Oh boy, do I have a story to tell! Ever since I dived headfirst into the captivating world of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, I’ve been hooked like a trout on a line. And let me tell you, solving that Abraxas puzzle box was quite the rollercoaster ride!

As a devoted fan, I’ve always been captivated by the intriguing challenges and minor hurdles that Life Is Strange series presents. These puzzles serve as stepping stones, propelling me forward in the narrative, while also offering opportunities to uncover hidden treasures or accomplishments.

In the game “Life Is Strange: Double Exposure,” the Abraxas puzzle box also requires thinking beyond conventional methods, as solving it awards you with the “Thinking Outside the Box” trophy or achievement.

The term ‘Abraxas’ signifies a clandestine group comprised of Caledon University students, known for employing riddles and pranks such as this mysterious box to play harmless jokes on their peers.

To solve the mystery hidden within this intricate box, Max will need to tackle and successfully resolve each layer in separate, sequential chapters.

Fortunately, we’ve compiled a quick guide to assist you in unwrapping your prize quickly and effortlessly, revealing the trophy/achievement along with any potential interactions that may follow.

Location Of The Abraxas Puzzle Box

The Abraxas puzzle box is located at the conclusion of the initial chapter, as Max gets a call from Yasmin to arrange a meeting in her office.

Initially, it’s obvious that Reggie is sitting on the left patio bench, playing with a puzzle box, as the scene unfolds. Simultaneously, Max appears at the University’s North Quad.

Approaching Reggie will cause an event where he throws the box angrily to the ground, giving you the chance to engage with it afterwards.

Lift the container and discuss with Reggie about the mystery hidden within the Abraxas box, as well as understanding that this box serves as a covert examination assessing one of our core values.

After that, you can enter examine mode to try solving the first part of the box.

Solving The First Part Of The Box

Surprisingly enough, the initial layer of the Abraxas mystery box can be easily opened on your own if you carefully heed Max’s instructions regarding each face of the cube.

This box has three different faces that you can interact with: The Founder, The Eye, and The Crow.

Although the eye isn’t anything meaningful aside from a small detail, the main faces here are of The Founder, AKA the statue of Thomas Caledon, and the Crow.

The statue you see standing outside the university building’s entrance is identical to another one, and upon a closer inspection, you’ll notice that there are two crows perched on the statue’s shoulders, while the figure inside the pedestal box shows a face with just one countenance.

After turning the box so it faces Reggie and inspecting it closely, Max will observe that there is wax encircling it. This observation will initiate a sequence where Reggie employs his lighter to liquefy the wax.

This will drop a medallion with a crow on it.

Now, take the medallion and place it on the Founder’s vacant shoulder on the container to open it up.

And your reward? Well, it’s another box, the second and last layer of this puzzle, to be exact.

Reggie surrenders the second box to you, but you can solve it later in Chapter 2.

Solving The Second Part Of The Box

If you’ve always been a fan of puzzles with a bit of complexity, then prepare for good fortune as the latter part of the Abraxas puzzle box becomes more intricate.

At the conclusion of Chapter 2, you will find yourself unraveling the final layer of the puzzle box at Max’s place, coinciding with Moses’ visit to inspect Safi’s camera together in the darkroom.

The box is located on the kitchen counter; complete the task before going down the stairs since this action concludes the current chapter. (Paraphrased)

Currently, you have the ability to engage with virtually every aspect, but keep in mind that the Face of Righteousness serves as a vital hint for unraveling this particular level of the mystery.

Like last time, you need to pay attention to only a few of the box’s sides here.

Those two images appear to be reminiscent of, firstly, a constellation and secondly, a side bearing a dial that somewhat resembles the emblem of the Abraxas society.

To begin, select a constellation, and for each column, you will need to reposition 4 distinct stars to form the constellation’s points.

To put it simply, the Libran’s Face symbolizes the Libra constellation, suggesting that we should arrange the stars in a similar manner to replicate this celestial pattern.

We’ve also marked how to recreate it in the images in case you need a visual reference.

  • Slide down the left-most star two times so that it’s at the intersection point of the triangle.
  • For the second one right after it, move it down just above the bottom.
  • Move the third down by a single slide so it’s on another intersection point of the triangle.
  • For the last star on the right side, if you hopefully guessed it, move it down two times for the triangle’s last intersection point.

Should it be accomplished, you’ll reveal a dial reminiscent of the Abraxas face emblem we encountered earlier, if your memory serves you right.

Turn the puzzle box around so the required side is facing up, then place your new piece on top of the existing one.

Here’s a simpler way to phrase that instruction: “Disregard the outer ring for now, focus on the inner one instead. Rotate it clockwise twice, and this should open the box’s lid.

Lift the cover to unveil your potential reward from the Abraxas Society – a keepsake pin and the “Thinking Beyond the Ordinary” token of achievement.

In the third chapter, you may even get a congratulatory text from an unidentified individual, commending you for cracking the puzzle box.

It doesn’t end there, though; you’ll also get noticed by a couple of Abraxas kids again in Chapter 4 of the Living Timeline at the Krampus party in the Snapping Turtle Bar, which, of course, Max isn’t too overjoyed about.
