In the Crimson Desert, “The Dusksongs” quest challenges you to free Izvatu Fortress and beat Samura, the Sandwatcher. It’s a difficult fight, as the area is full of enemies with rifles, and Samura attacks from afar with powerful, explosive blasts.
Here’s a breakdown of how we successfully captured Izvatu Fortress and defeated the dangerous Samura. This will help you complete the mission and earn the Shadow Contract reward for overcoming the challenges within this fortress in the Crimson Desert.
Okay, so before you even think about trying to take Izvatu Fortress, you absolutely need to deal with Samura, the Sandwatcher. He’s basically the boss of the whole area. You’ll find him right in the middle of the fortress. Getting to him involves following these winding stairs, and you’ll need to use Nature’s Grasp to open the gate. Once you do, you’ll end up in an arena that’s full of breakable pots – get ready for a fight!
How to Beat Samura the Sandwatcher in Crimson Desert
- You should bring plenty of Recovery Items against Samura, as she will constantly try to shoot you with her rifle, and dodging explosive spots isn’t always possible.
- This is a battle of the dodge, meaning you should be patient and wait for Samara to crouch and take aim with her rifle. You should roll towards Samura when her gun sparks, indicating it’s about to shoot.
- You should attack Samura between her shots with heavy-hitting attacks like Turning Slash and Blinding Flash Finisher to keep the pressure on.
- Samura will often use smoke bombs to get away and leap to vantage points. When Samura is up high, don’t focus on trying to hurt her, but instead use the entrances underneath the castle as cover from her explosive barrages.
Beating Samura the Sandwatcher will give you the Shadow Contract Key. You can use this key more than once, but it has a cooldown period. Currently, it seems to be broken – it’s supposed to let you steal for a minute without being detected, but it isn’t working correctly.
How to Liberate Izvatu Fortress in Crimson Desert
- With Samura defeated, it’s time ot liberate Izvatu Fortress. To do so, you’ll have to kill a bunch of hostiles around the fortress itself.
- While you can destroy the Infirmary, Training Ground, and Barracks, there seems to be no real point to this, as it does not grant any additional liberation progress.
- You’ll find the main camp filled with enemies in the north, just outside the main gate to Izvatu Fortress.
- Outside of this camp, you should focus on fighting the abundance of enemies, and don’t worry about dying, as respawning will keep your progress, and it won’t reset.
- This might take a while, as each enemy is only roughly 1% of progress, and the meter can increase if more enemies join Izvatu Fortress.
- Liberating this area is all about speed, so make sure you’re fighting clustered groups of enemies with Turning Slash to hit multiple foes at once.
