In Crimson Desert, keeping your horse healthy means protecting it from damage. You can do this by crafting special horse armor found within the Thornbriar Fortress. It takes a lot of Hide and Ore to make, but a well-protected horse is worth the effort.
Okay, so I’ve figured out exactly where to find the blueprint for horse armor! I’ll tell you the location, and then I’ll walk you through getting all the materials you need. Trust me, getting your horse decked out in armor not only keeps it safe on the battlefield, but it looks amazing too!
Where to Find the Horse Plate Armor Blueprint in Crimson Desert
- Head east of the Steel Mountains in southeast Hernand to Thornbriar Fortress (marked on the map above).
- Inside the Thornbriar Fortress, head up the stairs until you reach a large stone tower.
- Enter the stone tower and venture down the spiral stairs, where on the bottom floor, you can find the “Well’s Warhorse Tack Blueprint” on a wooden table.
- Enter your inventory to read the “Well’s Warhorse Tack Blueprint” to learn what materials you’ll need.
How to Craft and Use the Horse Plate Armor in Crimson Desert

- Head to any Smithy (the most accessible is in Hernand Town).
- From the Smithy’s vendor screen, hit “Crafting”.
- Use R2/RT until you’re in the “Horse Tack” tab, where you can now craft the Wells’ Military Barding, Wells’ Military Champron, Wells’ Military Stirrups, and Wells’ Warhorse Saddle.
- Once crafted, head to your Inventory and select the new Horse Stack and click “Use” to equip it to your currently active mount.
You can get Hide by buying it from tanners in major cities, or by hunting and skinning animals. Iron and Copper Ore are available for purchase at mineral shops in those same cities.
