Oshi no Ko Live Action Movie Trailer Reveals Theme Song

As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast who has been following the industry for over two decades, I am beyond excited about the upcoming live-action adaptation of “Oshi no Ko: The Final Act”. Having grown up watching idol shows and being a fan of the original manga series, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I eagerly await this unique blend of music, drama, and suspense.

The new live-action movie adaptation titled “The Final Act of Oshi no Ko” has unveiled a fresh trailer. This film serves as the sequel to the global release of the live-action series “Oshi no Ko,” which is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on November 28, 2024. The original series consists of eight episodes.

It’s speculated that the entire series will premiere simultaneously instead of a weekly release, since the movie is set to open in Japanese cinemas on December 20th. This timing would make it challenging to follow a weekly schedule for all episodes. The cast includes Asuka Saito (formerly of Nogizaka46) as Ai Hoshino, Kaito Sakurai (known for Netflix’s Kimi ni Todoke live-action series) as Aqua, and Nagisa Saito (previously with =LOVE) as Ruby.

In the trailer, you’ll hear a sneak peek of the main melody titled “SHINING SONG,” which is sung by B Komachi. Scenes shown appear to set the stage for the narrative as they seem reminiscent of the opening episodes from the TV series adaptation.

Since the movie hasn’t been scheduled for global release yet, given that the series will stream worldwide and is jointly produced by Amazon and Toei, there’s a strong possibility that the film will become accessible to international viewers as well. It may not hit the big screen, but it could potentially be made available on Amazon Prime Video shortly following its premiere in Japan.

What to Expect from the Oshi no Ko Live Action

Oshi no Ko isn’t a high-octane action series that demands an extravagant budget for special effects, making it feasible for a live-action production without breaking the bank. Judging from the trailers and the cast lineup, it appears they are putting in significant effort to provide quality music performances within the show. Notably, both Asuka and Nagisa were previously members of idol groups. Unlike them, Kaito isn’t a member of any boyband, but he was the drummer for the band Inner Journey before transitioning into acting and modeling.

To date, the live action trailers for Oshi no Ko seem to offer a straightforward, relatable production that fans can appreciate. Ayako Kitagawa, the screenwriter, boasts a strong resume in both creating and adapting series for networks such as TBS-MBS, TV Tokyo, and NHK. Hana Matsumoto, a former actress, and Smith, a filmmaker renowned for directing music videos for bands like Ikimono-gakari and Snow Man, are at the helm of these productions.

The Tragic Idol Story of Oshi no Ko

The story “Oshi no Ko” begins when adoring fan Goro Amemiya is tasked with delivering Ai Hoshino’s baby in secrecy, as she is a renowned idol. However, tragically, one of her stalkers murders him just before the babies are born, leading to his reincarnation as one of the twins – Aqua, the son. Ai has two children, with Aqua being the boy and Ruby the girl. As the son of his beloved idol, Aqua will soon discover that this world is fraught with challenges, navigating a tale filled with murder, music, and revenge.

Oshi no Ko has been published in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine since April 2020, with the final chapter scheduled for November 13, 2024. This captivating series is the brainchild of Aka Akasaka, renowned for his work on Kaguya-sama: Love is War, and brought to life by talented illustrator Mengo Yokoyari. An anime adaptation debuted in 2023, and exciting news about a third season has been announced recently.

Beginning on November 28, 2024, a live-action adaptation of the series Oshi no Ko will be available for streaming worldwide on Amazon Prime Video. However, as of now, there has been no announcement regarding an international release for the sequel movie, which is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 20.
