Assassin's Creed's Gameplay May Make a Fall Guys-Like Game a Perfect Fit

As a die-hard Assassin’s Creed fan with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen the series evolve from its humble beginnings to the sprawling open-world epics it is today. So when I heard whispers about Assassin’s Creed Invictus possibly being a Fall Guys-like multiplayer game, my initial reaction was one of skepticism. But as someone who’s spent countless hours leaping from rooftops and blending into the crowd, I can’t help but see the potential for some truly exhilarating minigames in this format.

The game titled “Assassin’s Creed Invictus” was initially unveiled in September 2022, along with other projects such as “Assassin’s Creed Hexe”, “Red”, and “Mirage”. While “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” came out the previous year, and “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” (previously known as “Red”) is forthcoming, “Hexe”, “Jade”, and “Invictus” have all been kept secret. However, with games of this magnitude, leaks are commonplace, and a recent rumor about “Assassin’s Creed Invictus” has stirred up excitement in the gaming community.

Based on information from a Twitter leaker known as j0nathan, it appears that “Assassin’s Creed Invictus” could potentially be a multiplayer game similar to “Fall Guys,” where up to 16 players compete in various mini-game challenges across multiple rounds. This news has sparked a strong negative reaction among fans online. However, while the idea of iconic characters like Ezio and Cesare Borgia engaging in minigames might seem absurd, the “Assassin’s Creed” series’ gameplay mechanics could be more compatible with the “Fall Guys” format than some might initially believe.

Assassin’s Creed’s Gameplay Could Inspire A Wealth of Multiplayer Minigames

A Cat-and-Mouse Game of Deduction

If it’s true that Assassin’s Creed Invictus includes mini-games, one of them could be modeled after a cat-and-mouse game. This mini-game might draw inspiration from Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood’s ‘Wanted’ multiplayer mode. In this Invictus mini-game, players would strive to locate their target while simultaneously evading the hunter pursuing them. To remain undetected, players could use disguises and interact with various environment elements to mingle with the NPC crowds. The game would end when only one player remains hidden, who would then be declared the winner.

A Race Across the Rooftops

An intriguing choice for an Assassin’s Creed-style minigame would be a parkour challenge, mirroring the significance of parkour in the gameplay mechanics of Assassin’s Creed. Given that parkour is nearly as essential as stealth within the Assassin’s Creed gameplay formula, it translates seamlessly into a rapid-fire minigame. In essence, this minigame could resemble the Street Races featured in titles like Assassin’s Creed 2, where players would navigate through a sequence of checkpoints, competing to reach the final gate more swiftly than their opponents within a multiplayer setting.

A Messy Free-For-All Brawl

A significant aspect of the gameplay in Assassin’s Creed lies in its combat system, and although adapting these mechanics for a potential multiplayer spinoff might be more challenging than stealth or parkour, it merits having a dedicated mini-game. An ideal approach could involve matching players for a 1-on-1 duel, with the winner progressing to the next round. However, a more entertaining concept would be an all-out street brawl, where as many as 16 players engage in simultaneous combat, dodging and parrying each other to achieve a chaotic victory through any means necessary.

A Quick Bout of Naval Warfare

Although naval combat has been present in the Assassin’s Creed series since 2012 with the launch of Assassin’s Creed 3, it is not usually the first thing that comes to mind when fans consider the gameplay mechanics of Assassin’s Creed. However, naval combat could provide an exceptional basis for a distinctive multiplayer mini-game. In this scenario, players would command a galleon from the Black Flag era and be assigned temporary roles within the crew. The captain would steer the ship while the other crew members would manage repairs and fire cannons or swivel turrets.

Although there are rumors suggesting that Assassin’s Creed Invictus could adopt a structure similar to Fall Guys, this doesn’t automatically imply that it will be of poor quality. In fact, if the speculated mini-games become reality, Invictus could enjoy the best of both worlds – providing engaging bite-sized challenges, while maintaining the core gameplay mechanics that define the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
