It’s no surprise, then, that they frequently rank among the strongest characters in their respective shows.
I’m a huge fan of shonen anime, and one thing I always get excited about is seeing characters who can expertly wield two weapons at once! It’s not enough just to have two weapons, though – the really amazing dual-wielders are the ones with incredible skill, power, and coordination. So, I’ve been thinking about who the most powerful ones are, those fighters whose minds and bodies are perfectly in sync when they jump into battle. Let’s dive in and take a closer look!
Yor Forger
- Anime: Spy x Family
- Weapons: Needle Stilettos
Yor Forger leads a secret life in Spy x Family that her husband, Loid, doesn’t know about. During the day, she pretends to be a typical, somewhat clumsy office worker at Berlint City Hall. But at night, she transforms into a highly skilled assassin, completing dangerous missions with precision.
I’ve seen Yor fight, and her weapons are unlike anything I’ve ever encountered. She doesn’t use typical blades, but rather golden, needle-sharp stilettos – and I mean weapons, not the shoes! She’s been using them for years, and they’ve seen a lot of action. It’s clear from the stains that she’s taken down a huge number of targets assigned by the Garden.
Kazuma Kuwabara
- Anime: Yu Yu Hakusho
- Weapons: Double Spirit Sword
Do you remember wanting to be like Kuwabara Kazuma from Yu Yu Hakusho, fighting alongside the Urameshi team? If so, you probably recall how impressive his spirit sword looked, even though he wasn’t always the strongest fighter in the Dark Tournament.
Kazuma Kuwabara might not be the most powerful or stylish fighter, but his spirit swords are still impressive. While Yusuke has a strong family history giving him an advantage, Kuwabara is a regular human who succeeds through hard work and determination.
Soshiro Hoshina
- Anime: Kaiju No. 8

Soshiro Hoshina, Mina Ashiro’s right-hand person, fights kaiju using two swords in Kaiju No. 8. Most defense force members rely on guns, but Vice-Captain Hoshina always carries his swords, as his skill with them is his biggest strength. In fact, even Kafka Hibino, while transformed into a kaiju, was almost defeated by him.
Hoshina fights with swords instead of guns or cannons because he simply isn’t good with firearms. This made some people doubt his abilities, but he consistently proves them wrong with his skill as a swordsman.

Levi Ackerman, known as “Heichou” to those who serve with him, is a remarkably skilled and dangerous soldier in Attack on Titan. Uzui Tengen stands out from other elite Demon Slayers – he prefers using two large, axe-like blades instead of traditional swords. He fights demons with a dazzling and incredibly accurate style, and his incredible speed allows him to quickly defeat many enemies.
Asta

It’s tough watching someone like Asta struggle in a world where everyone else uses magic. But seeing his determination is incredible – being unable to use magic doesn’t hold him back at all. In fact, it seems to push him even harder, especially since he’s aiming for the title of Wizard King, a goal that usually requires powerful magical abilities.
Because Asta doesn’t have any magic himself, he uses special anti-magic swords to give him a fighting chance against opponents who do. These swords work by completely blocking, slicing through, and pushing back magical attacks, effectively leveling the playing field.
Shunsui Kyoraku
- Anime: Bleach
- Weapons: Daisho Swords
In the world of Bleach, Shunsui Kyoraku, the captain of the 1st Division, is known for his unique fighting style – he can skillfully use two swords at the same time. What makes this even more unusual is that he’s ambidextrous, a trait not commonly seen among swordsmen in the series.
Shunsui is a truly captivating character, and his unique sword abilities highlight his incredible skill in fighting with two weapons at once. Both his initial release and his more powerful form perfectly showcase his mastery of dual-wielding.
Death the Kid

In the anime Soul Eater, Death the Kid, the second son of Death, uniquely prefers using guns over the typical weapons wielded by reapers, like swords or katanas. He chooses to shoot his enemies rather than slice them.
Kid’s favorite weapons are the Demon Twin Guns, created by the Thompson Sisters. As their partner, he can fire incredibly powerful bullets that contain a piece of his soul, making his attacks especially deadly. A direct hit can either instantly paralyze an opponent or, tragically, cause immediate death.
Erza Scarlet

I’ve noticed that Fairy Tail really spoils Erza Scarlet with all sorts of weapons and gear. It’s incredible – she has over a hundred different suits of armor, plus more than 200 weapons! This makes her one of the most adaptable, powerful mages in the whole series. But even with all that, she usually fights using just two swords, and she’s always switching them out for different kinds.
Erza changes her armor and weapons to suit each opponent and the environment she’s fighting in. Sometimes she uses her Armadura Fairy armor with Fairy Blades, and at other times she switches to her Red-Black Twin Blades armor.
Roronoa Zoro
- Anime: One Piece
- Weapons: Three Swords
If Kuina hadn’t died, Zoro likely would have continued fighting with two swords in One Piece. He only began training with three swords after Kuina’s death, driven to fulfill the dream they shared.
Zoro has always been incredibly skilled with two swords, making his development of a three-sword style a logical next step. Although he’s famous for fighting with three swords, the story occasionally shows him reverting to his original two-sword technique.
