How to Craft Lockpicks in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Lockpicks can be made using three different recipes in DOS2. Here are the details:

Ingredient 1Ingredient 2
Recipe 1Any HammerNails
Recipe 2NeedleNeedle
Recipe 3SoapKey

In the initial stages of gameplay, an ideal Lockpick recipe is a Hammer (or a Repair Hammer) combined with a Nail. This combination works well due to their easy availability as early as Fort Joy. Not only does this method provide quick Lockpicks, but in a pinch, a Repair Hammer can substitute for a regular Hammer in the recipe. The Repair Hammer, being a permanent item, doesn’t get used up during lockpick creation and can be reused indefinitely.

How to Get Repair Hammer

Repair Hammers can be found fairly easily in DOS2. Here are the easiest ways to get them.

  • Can be looted from an NPC named Needle located in the Griff’s Camp Kitchen in Fort Joy.
  • Can be bought from Nebora, the blacksmith in Fort Joy.
  • Can be found as random loot in containers.

How to Get Nails

Nails can very easily be found in the overworld, even in Fort Joy. You’ll find a huge cache of them around Nebora’s Blacksmith shop and many more scattered throughout the rest of the world. To find them, hold the ‘Show World Tooltips’ hotkey to highlight all visible items. If there is a Nail around, you’ll know immediately. Nails are also sold by certain vendors, but since they’re such a common item, it’s rarely advisable to buy them directly.

Lockpicks are only consumed on successful attempts.

Alternate Option: Gift Bag – Crafter’s Kit

Larian Studios has given players an option to lessen the challenge in Divinity: Original Sin 2 by incorporating Quality-of-Life enhancements as Gift Bags. Essentially, these Gift Bags function like built-in mods for the game, allowing players to enable or disable them as desired. One such Gift Bag is known as Crafter’s Kit, a highly useful feature that introduces numerous new recipes, making crafting items significantly more straightforward.

How to Enable Gift Bag – Crafter’s Kit

  1. Open the pause menu.
  2. Select ‘Gift Bag Features.’
  3. Scroll down and check the box in front of Crafter’s Kit.

Currently, the Crafter’s Kit is now available in the game. However, before you can utilize it, you’ll need to create it yourself using this guide as a blueprint: [provide recipe]
