As a long-time fan who has braved the chilling halls of Raccoon City since the original release of Resident Evil 2 back in 1998, I can hardly contain my excitement for its arrival on iOS devices this December 10th! The thought of being able to play one of my all-time favorite survival horror games on the go is a dream come true.
Recently, Capcom has been releasing numerous games for iOS devices. The most recent addition to this lineup is the highly acclaimed Resident Evil 2, which will be available starting from December 10th.
The highly anticipated reboot of a beloved Resident Evil game is set to launch for iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro variants, as well as iPads and Macs equipped with an M1 chip or later.
Capcom invites gamers to sample a piece of the thrilling narrative for free before buying the complete game. The Resident Evil 2 offers compatibility with Universal Purchase and cross-progression, allowing players to explore Leon and Claire’s adventure in Raccoon City on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and transfer their progress data between devices.
Additionally, unique features tailored for iOS devices are being incorporated, adding an extra pleasant touch.
In the mobile version of Resident Evil 2 for iPhones and iPads, players can enjoy improved controls with an innovative Auto Fire function. This means that once you lock onto enemies, your weapons will automatically discharge after a brief aiming period, allowing for smoother gameplay. Additionally, this game is compatible with numerous controllers for iPhone, iPad, and even Mac devices, giving gamers more options to customize their experience.
In our 2019 assessment, we noted: “The remake of Resident Evil 2 remarkably preserves the essence of the original while offering a refreshed experience. It subtly incorporates music elements reminiscent of the 1998 soundtrack, and retells the story in a way that resonates with today’s audience. However, it’s not just a simple remake – it offers numerous surprises throughout the 12-15 hours of initial playthrough. Essentially, this feels like an entirely new game suitable for all, though playing it might require frequent changes of underwear due to its intense gameplay sessions. This is more than just Resident Evil for a fresh generation.
Resident Evil 2 is out now for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. It’s coming to Apple/iOS devices on December 10th.
