PUBG: Battlegrounds has temporarily added the popular prop hunt mode that players have been requesting for a long time. Originally released as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in 2017, PUBG is a hugely successful battle royale game, selling over 75 million copies globally. The game is based on a simple premise: players parachute onto an island and fight to be the last one standing.
The battle royale world is very competitive, with games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone being hugely popular. However, PUBG has remained successful, largely because its developers consistently update the game with new content. They recently hinted at a PUBG and Stellar Blade collaboration, bringing the character Eve into the game. Continuing this positive trend, the developers are now releasing the long-awaited prop hunt mode, though there’s a slight drawback.
Prop Hunt Mode is Finally Here in PUBG
The new Prop Hunt mode is now available in PUBG from March 31st to April 7th! It’s a fun hide-and-seek style game where players can be either Hunters or Props. Hunters try to find and eliminate all the players disguised as Props before time runs out, while Props try their best to avoid being discovered. Each round, players choose to be a Hunter or a Prop, and each game has 12 players total – 9 Props and 3 Hunters.

Prop Hunt rounds in PUBG have a set structure. At the start, players who become props are scattered around the map with a short speed boost to help them find good hiding spots. Hunters are kept in a limited area with restricted vision. When the round begins, hunters search for the props, but shooting anything that isn’t a prop will damage them. To help props survive, they have abilities like a stun gun, decoys, and the ability to switch which prop they are. As the round ends, a “Fever Time” begins, giving hunters extra weapons and removing the penalty for shooting the wrong thing. You can play Prop Hunt on maps like Miramar, Rono, and Vikendi. With this update, PUBG now includes a Prop Hunt mode, joining other popular games that feature it.
The new limited-time game mode has been a hit with players on Reddit and Twitter. While people are enjoying it now, many are hoping the developers will make it a permanent part of the game. It’s even brought some former players back, who appreciate the developers consistently updating and improving the experience.
While the main PUBG game remains popular, its spin-off, Blindspot, wasn’t successful. Players criticized it for being repetitive, buggy, and generally disappointing, leading its developer, Team ARC, to shut it down on March 30, 2026. This has caused some worry among fans about the future of another planned spin-off, PUBG: Black Budget. It remains to be seen what Krafton has in store for the PUBG franchise.
