Players of Resident Evil Requiem are still enjoying the game, but they should get ready for new content arriving in September 2026. TopMob has the first details on Resident Evil Requiem: Last Days, a major story expansion featuring Ada Wong and Alyssa Ashcroft. This update will also include a new Mercenaries multiplayer mode, which Capcom claims is unlike anything ever seen in the Resident Evil series or the gaming industry as a whole.
We might hear more about the Resident Evil Requiem DLC in September, but anything released before then won’t be part of the official content. Rumors indicate a small new game and a photo mode update – which will make zombies look a bit… softer – are coming beforehand. However, Capcom has confirmed that both the ‘Last Days’ content and the new Mercenaries mode will arrive in September as the next big update for the game.
Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC Details: Story and Mercenaries
Set a few weeks after the events of Resident Evil Requiem, Last Days continues the story with both Grace and Leon. In this downloadable content, Leon, having decided to leave his job with the DSO, takes on one final mission that brings him back to Raccoon City. However, it’s a trap set by a dangerous group known as The Connections, who are targeting his home and his previously unknown wife, Patricia. He enlists the help of Ada Wong to rescue Patricia and expose The Connections. Simultaneously, Grace uncovers a journal left by her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, which also links to this group. Players will experience the current crisis through Leon and Grace, while also delving into the past by playing as Alyssa and a new character, Zeno.
A new story expansion is launching alongside an updated version of Resident Evil Requiem‘s Mercenaries Mode. This isn’t the Mercenaries mode players remember – it’s been completely reimagined as a free-to-play extraction shooter. Players can choose characters like Leon, Gideon, Zeno, and Mr. X to battle waves of enemies and try to escape. There’s a unique twist: a real-time bounty system called Merclist targets disruptive players – those who intentionally ruin the game for others, or even those who make accidental noises! Capcom has confirmed official support for Merclist, but it’s currently unknown how this system will affect gameplay or legal considerations.
The upcoming story DLC will include a mini-game where players can influence Leon’s romantic path. Players will be able to try and pair Leon with other popular Resident Evil characters – like Ada Wong, Claire Redfield, Ashley Graham, Helena Harper, Chris Redfield, or even Mr. X – potentially replacing his new wife, Patricia. The game hints that Patricia might not be who she seems, leading fans to speculate she could be connected to the Mold, similar to Ethan Winters.
Exclusive Resident Evil Requiem: Mercenaries Screenshots
I finally asked my contact at Capcom – while we were secretly talking about plans for Resident Evil amidst some rubble – about Chris Redfield and whether he’d be part of the story. They simply said, “mission accomplished,” and then left, leaving Chris Redfield’s fate a mystery. I’ll leave you to interpret that as you see fit.
