GTA Trilogy Developers Respond to Credits Being Removed

As a long-time fan who has spent countless hours exploring the virtual streets of Liberty City and Vice City, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Thomas Williamson and Grove Street Games. The recent update to the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, while undoubtedly enhancing our gaming experience with improved animations and classic lighting modes, seems to have overlooked the very people who made those enhancements possible in the first place.

Grove Street Games’ main team has spoken up about the incomplete removal of their name from the credit rolls of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition. This omission was noted by fans.

As reported by Eurogamer, Thomas Williamson, CEO of Grove Street Games, has spoken out about his studio’s exclusion from the credits in the recent update for the GTA Trilogy. Here is the full text of his statement:

In a hypothetical scenario, it’s unfair and unprofessional to exclude main contributors from the list of credits during an update, particularly when that update incorporates numerous fixes that the same contributors had worked on, which remained hidden from players for several years.

Many people reacted to Williamson’s post, pointing out that although Grove Street Games is not featured on the opening credit screen of the GTA Trilogy, they are still acknowledged in the closing credits. They stated that while their name has been omitted from the initial display, they are still given credit in the final roll call.

Lately, the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy has undergone a substantial upgrade, applicable to both PC and console versions. This upgrade brings in fresh game elements and improvements. Notable additions include the “Classic Lighting” mode and advanced animations, significantly boosting the visual appeal of the games. In this update, Grove Street Games has been eliminated from the opening credits of the GTA Trilogy.
