Destiny 2 Reveals Massive Buffs to Roaming Supers

Key Takeaways

  • Bungie is increasing the roaming super recharge rate in Destiny 2 by 3x for better PvE activity balance.
  • Roaming supers will now deal 30-55% more damage to champions in Destiny 2 to provide more options.
  • The midseason update in Destiny 2 buffs various supers like Stormtrance and Sentinel Shield for better gameplay.

As a long-time Destiny 2 player with countless hours spent in the Crucible and exploring the cosmos, I can’t help but feel my heart skip a beat at the news of upcoming super buffs in Update 8.1.5. Bungie has always been attentive to the needs of their community, and these changes are no exception.

Bungie shares details about the modifications to super abilities in the midseason update for Destiny 2, such as enhancing energy regeneration and damage output for skills like Stormtrance, Spectral Blades, and others. Over time, Bungie has been adjusting the subclasses in Destiny 2 to maintain balance among them, but achieving this balance can be quite challenging.

During Episode: Echoes, Bungie hinted at modifications in the abilities and supers of Destiny 2, offering players a sneak peek at some of the enhancements that were forthcoming. For instance, many players consider Spectral Blades one of the least effective supers, but with this upcoming adjustment, Bungie aims to make it a viable choice rather than having players instinctively opt for Deadfall or Mobius Quiver. Besides altering specific super abilities, Bungie also unveiled a significant mechanical change.

Inside of the weekly blog post, Bungie went a bit deeper into the planned buffs coming to supers. Recalling the changes made to Destiny 2 super abilities in The Final Shape, the blog indicated that the intent for these upcoming Act 2 buffs is to optimize the “mechanics of second-to-second combat.”

Initially, Bungie is boosting the speed at which roaming supers recharge by triple their original rate following the launch of Destiny 2’s Episode Revenant Act 2. The goal here is to enable players to quickly access their super abilities in PvE encounters, as internal testing during Advanced Nightfall events has shown a significant increase in the number of Nova Warps (approximately 6 to 8) used compared to the previous 3 to 5 Nova Bombs.

As a dedicated Destiny 2 player, I’m excited to share that roaming supers will now inflict 30-55% increased damage on champions! This adjustment is aimed at providing us with additional strategies when tackling challenging PvE activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls. Previously, we primarily relied on burst supers such as Celestial Nighthawk’s Golden Gun, Nova Bomb, Blade Barrage, Storm’s Edge, and Thundercrash, to name a few. The new changes open up more possibilities for us Guardians!
