Jujutsu Kaisen is now considered one of the best action anime ever made. Creator Gege Akutami has built a fantastic world with deep storytelling and thrilling, fast-paced fights. The recently concluded Season 3 continued this trend with intense battles like the Zenin Massacre and the Sendai Colony Battle. Although Jujutsu Kaisen excels at action, several other series offer comparable or even superior fight sequences.
Naruto
Although Jujutsu Kaisen features fantastic action sequences, most fans still consider Naruto to be the superior action anime. Naruto has distinguished itself within the shonen action genre thanks to its engaging chakra system and unique fighting style.
I’ve always loved the fight scenes in the Naruto manga, but the anime really takes them to another level with its smooth animation. Some of the most memorable battles, the ones fans constantly talk about, are classics like Naruto versus Pain, the emotional fight between the brothers, and both of Naruto’s clashes with Sasuke. Even the less central fights, like Sasuke against Deidara or Kakashi versus Kakuzu, are incredibly well-animated and stand out compared to action in many other anime series.
Dragon Ball
Many fans consider Dragon Ball to be the original shonen anime, meaning it heavily influenced the action-packed anime that followed. Created by Akira Toriyama, the series set the stage for popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and continues to inspire anime creators today.
Dragon Ball is famous for its incredible fights. Akira Toriyama perfected a formula for action-packed battles with fantastic choreography. Fights like Goku versus Frieza became worldwide sensations when they were first released, and iconic clashes like Goku versus Buu and Goku versus Vegeta remain popular. Even decades later, in 2026, these battles still generate a lot of excitement.
Solo Leveling
As a huge anime fan, I have to say Solo Leveling really shook things up when it arrived in 2024! The first season was amazing, with A-1 Pictures delivering some seriously epic fight scenes – the battle between Sung Jinwoo and Igris was a standout. But honestly, it was the second season, when Jinwoo faced off against the Ant King, that really set Solo Leveling apart and cemented its place as one of the best action anime we’ve seen in years. It’s just incredible!
The final battle of Solo Leveling’s second season is now considered a standout action sequence. The show’s action is comparable to that of Jujutsu Kaisen, and with a third season on the way, fans can expect even more impressive fights as the main character, Jinwoo, gets stronger.
Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter is a highly acclaimed manga and anime created by Togashi. Though the series prioritizes character development, it also features fantastic action sequences. What sets Hunter x Hunter apart is that its battles aren’t just visually impressive – they’re intelligently designed with clear rules and logical strategies. The fight between Meruem and Netero is arguably the most famous, but the series has many other battles that fans are eager to see animated.
Bleach
While Jujutsu Kaisen draws inspiration from many classic anime and manga, Gege Akutami has specifically cited Tite Kubo’s Bleach as the biggest influence. A lot of what makes Jujutsu Kaisen so engaging actually comes from ideas and elements found in Bleach.
The popular Domain Expansions in Jujutsu Kaisen actually originated from a similar technique, the Bankai, seen in Bleach. Bleach continues to have a huge impact, and its fight scenes are just as exciting, if not more so, than those in Jujutsu Kaisen. One of the most memorable battles in Bleach is definitely the fight between Ichigo Kurosaki and Byakuya Kuchiki.
Fate
The Fate series is a hugely popular franchise around the world, particularly in Japan. While it has a compelling story, its popularity really comes from its incredible battles and top-notch animation – some of the best in anime today.
The Fate series is known for its amazing fight scenes. Battles like Saber Alter versus Rider/Berserker in Heaven’s Feel and Shirou versus Archer in Unlimited Blade Works are particularly memorable, and the fight between Kiritsugu and Kirei from Fate Zero is considered legendary. When it comes to action, Fate is arguably superior to Jujutsu Kaisen.

Demon Slayer
Both Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are relatively new anime, with Demon Slayer starting in 2019. They’re both packed with action, and while the stories add depth, the fight scenes are the main focus. Jujutsu Kaisen was initially more popular, but the recent Infinity Castle movie has really boosted Demon Slayer‘s popularity.
Fights like the one between Akaza, Tanjiro, and Giyuu are now considered some of the best in all of anime, thanks to amazing animation that really brought the action to life. But even before that, Demon Slayer had several unforgettable battles, with Tengen’s fight against Gyutaro being a standout example.
Chainsaw Man Reze Arc
Chainsaw Man is quickly becoming a major anime franchise. Although it hasn’t reached the same level of popularity as Jujutsu Kaisen yet, the recent movie, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, has brought it international attention. The movie’s story was incredibly engaging, and it featured one of the most intense action sequences of 2025.
The fight between Denji and the Bomb Devil, Reze, is now considered a classic, largely thanks to the incredible animation and direction by MAPPA Studio. Many believe it surpasses the large-scale battles in Jujutsu Kaisen, and currently, Chainsaw Man seems to be leading the way in terms of action animation quality. As more of the Chainsaw Man story is adapted, especially if they continue using a movie format, we can expect even more thrilling fights. While Jujutsu Kaisen might have a more detailed power system, Chainsaw Man has assembled top animators who have created action sequences unlike anything seen before.
