PS5 Exclusive Saros Goes Gold Ahead of April Release Date

Housemarque, the team behind the hit game Returnal, has announced that their new PlayStation 5 game, Saros, is finished and ready for its April 30th launch. While not a direct continuation of Returnal’s story, Saros feels like a follow-up in spirit, expanding on the original game’s ideas with improved gameplay and fresh features. It keeps the looping gameplay that players enjoyed in Returnal, but promises a less difficult experience.

Housemarque revealed its latest game during a February 2025 State of Play event with a captivating trailer. The game follows Soltari enforcer Arjun Devraj, portrayed by Rahul Kohli, as he relentlessly seeks the truth behind the mysterious and dangerous world of Carcosa. While the trailer might remind players of Housemarque’s Returnal, this is a brand new story with key differences. Saros remains a third-person shooter with roguelike features, but it adds permanent upgrades, gear, and progression, making it less punishing when you die.

Saros Won’t Be Delayed Again

After it was announced, Saros quickly became a highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive. Fans were upset when Housemarque delayed the game late last year. Originally planned for release on March 20th, the launch was moved to April 30, 2026. Fortunately, it looks like the game is now on track! Housemarque has confirmed that Saros has officially ‘gone gold,’ meaning the development is complete and the game is approved for release. While Housemarque will probably still release a patch on launch day to fix any remaining bugs, the game itself is now finished in terms of content.

If you can’t wait to play Saros, you can pre-order the deluxe edition for early access – you’ll get to start playing 48 hours before the official launch. The deluxe edition costs $10 more than the standard edition (which is $69.99) and also includes three unique armor sets. Plus, anyone who pre-orders Saros – either the standard or deluxe version – will receive a special “Hands of Shore” armor set if they pre-order before April 30th.

Players can look forward to a fantastic experience with Saros when it releases later this month. A recent trailer showcased how the game will utilize the PlayStation 5’s advanced features. Like other PS5 exclusives, Saros will feature the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers, making weapons feel more immersive, and will leverage the console’s fast SSD for almost instantaneous loading. The game also promises to be visually impressive, pushing the PS5’s graphics and processing power to their maximum potential.

Okay, so April is shaping up to be a HUGE month for PS5! It’s not just Saros dropping. I’m really excited that Starfield, that big space RPG from Bethesda, is finally coming to PlayStation on April 7th. Then, a week after that, on April 16th, Mouse: P.I. For Hire is launching – I’ve been hearing good things! And if that wasn’t enough, Pragmata is right behind it on April 17th. Seriously, the games keep coming! We’ve also got Tides of Tomorrow on April 22nd and Neverness to Everness wrapping things up on April 29th. My wallet is already crying, but I can’t wait!
