Every Possible Switch 2 Game Revealed So Far

As someone who has grown up with Nintendo consoles and fondly remembers the days of Banjo-Kazooie, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2! The prospect of playing Yooka-Replaylee on a more powerful console is enough to get any nostalgic gamer like me pumped. And with My Time at Evershine and Bestario also confirmed for the successor, it seems that the Switch’s library will only continue to expand and improve.

If there’s one thing that’s been a hot topic in the gaming community as of late, it’s the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Ever since Nintendo officially announced that it was working on the as-of-yet untitled console in May 2024, gamers have waited with bated breath for its reveal. Unfortunately, even though 2024 has almost come to an end, information on the upcoming system has been pretty scarce. While Nintendo did confirm that the Switch 2 would be unveiled sometime before March 31, 2025, and that it’d be backwards compatible with the current Nintendo Switch, it has yet to share specific details about the console. Its price, name, appearance, specifications, and release date are still a complete mystery.

Initially, many pundits predicted that I, an eager fan, would catch a glimpse of the Switch 2 towards the end of 2024. However, following Nintendo’s latest earnings call, it seems like most are now anticipating its announcement in early 2025 instead. If this prediction proves accurate, then it looks like my wait for the new system might stretch out a bit longer. The exact timeline remains unclear, but there’s no denying that several games have already been announced for the Switch 2. Though Nintendo has kept mum about its plans for the Switch’s successor, some third-party developers have hinted at their intention to back the yet-to-be-unveiled console.

A Handful of Games Have Already Been Announced for the Nintendo Switch 2

A Switch 2 Port of Yooka-Replaylee Has Been Teased on Multiple Occasions

Among the games rumored for the Switch 2 is a revamped version of the 2017 platformer titled Yooka-Replaylee. For those not familiar with this game, Yooka-Laylee is essentially the spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series, which has been largely inactive since the mid-2000s. The creators of Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic Games, are a British studio consisting of former staff from Rare who were instrumental in developing the original Banjo-Kazooie. Originally released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, macOS, and Linux, it was subsequently made available on Nintendo Switch and Amazon Luna.

In June 2024, Playtonic Games unveiled the game named “Yooka-Replaylee” for consoles and PCs without specifying the exact platforms. However, on October 24, 2024, the company clarified that the game was being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo consoles, which led to speculation that it might be a Switch 2 game due to the ambiguous language used for the Nintendo platforms. Further hints from the developer seem to suggest this as well.

My Time at Evershine is Coming to the Nintendo Switch’s Successor

Come September 2024, I’m thrilled to share that Pathea Games, an independent Chinese developer, unveiled “My Time at Evershine,” the latest addition to their beloved “My Time” farming sim series. Unlike its predecessors, which graced last-gen consoles like the Switch, “My Time at Evershine” is exclusively designed for current-gen systems, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC. Moreover, it’s also destined to grace future unannounced Nintendo platforms – a hint that suggests the Switch 2.

The indie-developed RPG titled Bestario, reminiscent of the Persona series, is also intended for the Switch 2. However, since its release date isn’t until late 2026 at the earliest, it won’t be available around the launch of Nintendo’s upcoming console.

The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 is the Only Confirmed Switch 2 Exclusive

So far, only one other game has been confirmed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and that’s “The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 : Thoughts Delivered”. This title hasn’t received as much attention as games like “Yooka-Replaylee” and “My Time at Evershine”, but this is likely because there isn’t a lot of information available about it yet. Developed by Inside Systems, “The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4” is the latest addition to the “The Legend of Dark Witch” franchise, a series of 2D action platformer games that debuted in 2015. At this point, the game has only been announced for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, making it the console’s first known exclusive title.
