Netflix has a great selection of anime, including the popular isekai genre. They regularly add new shows each season, and while action and romance are common, some hidden isekai gems offer fantastic stories about being transported to another world.
Netflix doesn’t have a huge selection of isekai anime right now, but there are still some great choices available. Here’s a list of the best isekai anime you can watch on Netflix as of April 2026.
Magic Knight Rayearth
Welcome to Cephiro
I remember watching Magic Knight Rayearth as one of the first isekai anime, and it’s still a favorite for many people who grew up with it in the ‘90s. The show centers around three magical girls – Hikari, Umi, and Fuu – who transform into powerful protectors of a world called Cephiro. They fight against evil, and each girl embodies a different element: Hikari with fire, Fuu with wind, and Umi with water.
I noticed that with the new Magic Knight Rayearth remake coming out, Netflix is now streaming all twenty episodes of the original anime. It’s a classic isekai story about three magical knights and their adventures in the world of Cephiro, so it’s a great way to revisit – or discover – it before the remake arrives.
Inuyasha
Welcome to Feudal Japan
You can still watch the popular anime series Inuyasha on Netflix. Originally released in 2000, this show has 167 episodes filled with action, drama, suspense, and a bit of romance, making it enjoyable for a wide audience. Don’t let the long episode count discourage you – it’s easy to get hooked and find yourself watching them all quickly!
Inuyasha takes place mainly in a made-up version of Japan, around 500 years ago. The story centers on Kagome Higurashi, a middle school student who travels between the present day and a magical feudal Japan through an old well. Once there, she encounters Inuyasha, a somewhat prickly character with a difficult history and a quick wit!
Overlord
Welcome to Yggdrasil
You can still watch Ainz Ooal Gown lead his devoted followers in the anime Overlord on Netflix. This popular isekai series has been around for a while and has built a strong fanbase that consistently supports both the new seasons and recent movies.
I’ve noticed this isekai anime stands out, even though it has a familiar trope – the incredibly powerful main character. Overlord focuses entirely on Ainz Ooal Gown, a character who’s basically a god in this new world, and his goal is to become the ultimate ruler of Yggdrasil, a land filled with monsters and magic.
The Rising of the Shield Hero
Welcome to Melromarc
Okay, so picture this: I’m just a normal guy, Naofumi Iwatani, and suddenly I’m yanked away from Earth to this totally new world, Melromarc! It’s seriously dangerous here, full of magic and people who think they’re better than everyone else. And honestly? Trust is a huge problem. It feels like betrayal is around every corner, and if you don’t have power or status, you’re pretty much on your own.
Naofumi isn’t the typical overpowered hero transported to another world with a powerful weapon. He arrives with only defensive gear – a shield – leaving the royal family to unfairly reject and exile him.
Naofumi is a determined character, driven by a desire for revenge. You can now watch his story unfold in Shield Hero, which is available on Netflix.

Uncle From Another World
Revisit Gran Bahamar
Most isekai anime focus on young protagonists, but Uncle From Another World is a refreshing exception, starring an older man named Yousuke Shibazaki, affectionately called ‘Uncle’ or ‘Ojisan’ by those around him. This series is a hidden gem in the isekai genre, offering consistently funny moments. It cleverly satirizes common isekai clichés, keeps viewers guessing with its unpredictable storylines, and successfully blends fantasy action with everyday comedic situations.
Uncle feels that his ten-plus years spent in another world were completely worth being unconscious in this one. He not only became a celebrated hero, but also had an incredible adventure that he fondly remembers with excitement and pride.
Drifting Home
All Aboard the Apartment Ship
Netflix has a variety of isekai films, including Drifting Home. This 2-hour movie comes from Studio Colorido, known for other titles like Burn the Witch, My Oni Girl, and Sonny Boy & Dewdrop Girl. Drifting Home is a great choice for a weekend watch – it’s a complete story focused on themes of friendship and acceptance.
As you’d expect from an anime film, Drifting Home is visually stunning, with animation reminiscent of Studio Ghibli that brings every scene to life. The story follows a group of kids who suddenly find themselves adrift at sea on their soon-to-be-demolished apartment building, which is now their unlikely vessel. The central question is: will they be able to find their way back home?
Ni No Kuni
Welcome to the Fantastic World of Ni No Kuni
Netflix continues to offer Ni No Kuni, an isekai movie where a group of friends find themselves in a fantastical world. While many viewers find the characters and plot somewhat unoriginal, Ni No Kuni still appeals with its beautiful fantasy setting and touching story about the importance of friendship. The film focuses on Kotona,
I’m absolutely loving Ni No Kuni! It throws you into this amazing fantasy world where you follow Haruto, Yusuke, and Kotona as they start uncovering how deeply connected their fates really are. It’s a whirlwind of magic and adventure, and honestly, the story is packed with surprises! But what really gets me is how these friends stick together and support each other through everything – it’s a really heartwarming journey.
