Massive Entertainment has launched ‘Rise Up,’ a new season for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. This update adds a lot of fresh content and gameplay changes, including a new, higher level of weapon rarity and a challenging new endgame mode. The Division 2 has been gaining popularity lately thanks to Ubisoft’s consistent updates and seasonal content, and ‘Rise Up’ is the latest addition to keep players engaged.
2026 is shaping up to be a major year for The Division 2, with Massive Entertainment promising plenty of new content. It also marks the 10th anniversary of The Division franchise, and fans have already enjoyed celebratory events. In March, a special anniversary pass was released for The Division 2, featuring outfits inspired by popular Ubisoft characters, the return of events like Ambush and Assault, and a challenging Realism mode for the Warlords of New York expansion. Although the anniversary events are over, they’ve transitioned into the game’s latest seasonal update.
The Division 2 Rise Up Adds New Content for Players
The newest seasonal update for The Division 2, called Rise Up, introduces a lot of fresh content. A major highlight for players is Escalation, a challenging new game mode designed for endgame players. Accessible through a dedicated menu in the Base of Operations, Escalation lets you choose from 10 difficulty levels. Higher levels require spending special Tokens to unlock. The first level is free, and completing a run earns you more Tokens. However, if you fail, the Tokens you used are lost. Keep in mind that each Escalation attempt is a single run with no checkpoints – if your team is wiped out, you have to start over.
Escalation missions are built for repeated playthroughs. As you progress to harder levels, the challenges increase, and you’ll have a chance to earn better rewards. To keep things interesting, the game also includes mutators – special effects that change how enemies behave. For example, the ‘Suppressor’ mutator makes enemies charge up an EMP blast every time they take damage, which can disrupt players nearby. The developers plan to regularly update the list of these modifiers each season, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting.
The Division 2 Prototype Gear
In The Division 2, the Escalation game mode is currently the only way to get Prototype gear, a new and powerful rarity level above everything else in the game. Prototype gear boasts improved stats and special upgrades. You can earn it by completing Escalation runs, or by converting existing Level 40 High-End gear that’s fully upgraded. Converting requires one Prototype Core, which you get by breaking down Prototype items. Once an item becomes Prototype, you can continue to improve it, so you’ll likely need to find and upgrade multiple pieces to get the exact stats you want.
This season in The Division 2, Retaliation is all about taking down the Black Tusk faction. As you defeat enemies and complete missions, an Agitation meter will fill. The Black Tusk will start capturing Control Points and have a chance to drop DIAMOND Transceivers, which you can use to unlock special Retaliation blueprints – including those for gear like Provocator, Tempest, and Blacklisters. Keep an eye out for Kill Squads while you play – they’re tough, but they can drop blueprints for rare exotic items. If you complete the entire Retaliation cycle, you might even earn blueprints for exotics usually found in Raids or the Dark Zone.
The ‘Rise Up’ update brings several improvements to The Division 2, including new powerful weapons like the Agitator Auto Rifle and the Investor mask. Players can also look forward to new gear sets – Core Strength and Royal Works – and a fresh Seasonal Pass to complete.
