The Foxy Pirates, captained by Foxy the Silver Fox, are widely disliked by fans of the series. Because of this, many skipped the Long Ring Long Land arc in the anime, finding it unnecessarily drawn out. They preferred to read those 19 chapters in the manga instead.
Episode 208 officially introduced Foxy and his crew to the anime, and it surprisingly received high ratings. However, many fans didn’t enjoy seeing him taunt Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. While his challenge for a Davy Back fight was amusing to some, it was largely seen as irritating.
Foreboding of a New Adventure! The Puzzling Girl, Apis
One Piece Episode 56
Before setting sail on the Grand Line, the Straw Hat Pirates met a playful girl named Apis. She playfully stole their food, then surprised them by cooking a very spicy breakfast! It was Apis who unintentionally caused the Marines to chase the Straw Hats, leading them into the dangerous Calm Belt – a place filled with massive Sea Kings.
Many fans don’t consider Apis to be part of the official story, so she’s not very popular within the fanbase. She appears in the Warship Island arc, which was a side story that took up 8 episodes and delayed the Straw Hat Pirates’ journey to the Grand Line.
You’ve Been Waiting For It! The Return of Captain Buggy!
One Piece Episode 47
Buggy the Clown is a fun pirate to watch. He’s humorous, and his powers from the Chop-Chop Fruit are really interesting, too.
After Luffy beat Buggy in Orange Town, the Buggy Pirates fell apart without a leader. Meanwhile, Buggy wandered from island to island until he ran into Alvida, who had completely changed.
In One Piece Episode 47, Alvida and Buggy team up to locate Buggy’s crew, but they run into trouble with the tough Kumate tribe. Despite sounding like it could be entertaining, most viewers don’t rate this episode very highly, so it’s generally considered one you can skip.
A Climactic Sumo Battle—Straw Hat vs. the Strongest Ever Yokozuna!
One Piece Episode 903
Do you remember when Luffy wrestled Urashima in a sumo match? If so, you might have found episode 903 of One Piece frustrating rather than enjoyable. The episode was criticized for its slow pacing, as Luffy’s sumo match with Urashima was stretched out for too long.
This episode featured Luffy and Urashima repeatedly hitting each other, each trying to knock the other out of the ring to win. However, the animation quality was low and reused footage was noticeable, making the fight drag on. Many viewers expressed disappointment with the episode’s lack of originality and pacing.

The anime One Piece features a character often compared to Batman. Introduced in the Wano arc, this character gained bat-like traits after consuming a SMILE fruit – he even has wings and a mask! However, many fans were disappointed with how he performed during his fight with Luffy in episode 901.
I watched Batman go up against Luffy in this episode, and at first it was a really exciting fight! Batman was firing off arrows with incredible skill, acting like a true defender. In One Piece episode 66, viewers were surprised to see Luffy and Zoro fight. While a battle between these two strong characters sounds exciting, many found this particular confrontation felt unnatural and didn’t quite live up to expectations. A lot of fans also felt Luffy acted differently than usual, with his sudden anger towards Zoro seeming over the top and out of line with his typical personality.
Special Edition! The Strongest Bounty Hunter Cidre
One Piece Episode 895
Fans of the anime and manga One Piece frequently point out that there aren’t enough bounty hunters, especially considering how many pirates have huge rewards on their heads. Cidre is one of the few bounty hunters who appears in the series; he’s a minor character who caused trouble for the Straw Hat Pirates after the events of the Whole Cake Island arc.
Despite appearing powerful as the commander of the Carbonate Assault Army and leader of the Cidre Guild, Cidre and his followers aren’t actually a match for Luffy’s crew. However, they still manage to gain the upper hand, creating another frustrating power imbalance that fans find hard to believe.
