Players of Call of Duty have expressed their desire to return the Prestige feature to its original form, and Treyarch and Activision have responded by bringing back the classic setup. In Black Ops 6, you can experience the old-school vibe again, but you’ll need to reach a specific level before unlocking Prestige Level 1. And we all know which one it is.

In terms of Call of Duty (CoD), I belong to the boomer generation, meaning I prefer simpler times with fewer attachments. I’m drawn to maps that offer intricate three-lane layouts, reminiscent of the old days. Moreover, I long for the traditional Prestige system, where achieving a new prestige level was both a source of joy and a testament to my skill. The process of leveling up and earning a fresh prestige icon, along with the challenge of unlocking every weapon and equipment once more, added an element of specialness to the gameplay experience.

In response to your requests, Activision has brought back the beloved Prestige system with great fanfare. For some of you, this method of achieving Prestige might be unfamiliar. To help clarify, I’ll explain the level required to reach Prestige 1 and beyond, along with a brief overview of what happens:

What Level is Prestige 1 in Black Ops 6?

You must complete Level 55 to unlock the ability to Prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Here’s a clear set of instructions in case you missed the in-game prompts:

Go to the Black Ops 6 main multiplayer menu.
Click on Barracks.
Press on Progression.
Now choose Prestige.
Hold the Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or the applicable button on other formats to see Prestige Details.
When it gives you the option, press Continue.
Press Continue again.
Finally, hold the required button for several seconds to officially Prestige.

To clarify, reaching Level 55 isn’t sufficient—you must advance all the way through Level 55 to unlock the Prestige option. Once you accomplish this milestone, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will notify you, and you’ll be faced with a tough choice: do you choose to remain where you are, or continue on your journey?

What Happens When You Prestige in Black Ops 6?

Should you opt for the Prestige feature, your player level will be reset back to its initial state of one. In addition, your player icon will transform into a common symbol that stays with you throughout your Prestige journey. Furthermore, achieving specific landmarks along the way will grant you access to an assortment of rewards.

Indeed, despite devoting countless hours to boost your character’s rank, activating the Prestige feature will instantly reset your level to zero. In essence, this puts you back at square one, requiring you to reacquire all previously unlocked items except for one weapon, accessory, or ability of your preference.

Initially playing Black Ops 6’s online multiplayer awards you with a unique emblem for achieving new levels. However, upon Prestiging, you receive the same standard icon from levels 1 to 55. Interestingly, Activision has pointed out that the Prestige icons in Black Ops 6 have a special touch as they are themed around titles from the Black Ops series history.

Rewards

Instead of immediately receiving Prestige rewards, prestiging presents ongoing incentives throughout your entire prestige experience. For instance, you’ll have opportunities to collect Calling Cards, Emblems, Charms, and even Blueprints along the way.
