The Claw is a special fishing rod in Crimson Desert that automatically reels in fish, making fishing much easier.
You can get the Claw in one of two ways: by pickpocketing the fisherman in Bounty’s Net, or by becoming fully trusted with Patrigio, the Secret Shop Vendor. Here’s how each method works.
How to Get the Claw in Crimson Desert
As mentioned earlier, there are two ways to get The Claw Fishing Rod in Crimson Desert:
- Steal the Claw from the fisherman standing on the edge of the pier in Bounty’s Net, southwest of the Spire of Insight.
- Find the Secret Shop NPC, Patrigio, and gain 100 Trust with him to get The Claw as a reward.
How to Steal the Claw in Bounty’s Net
To start stealing in Crimson Desert, you’ll first need to obtain and wear a Mask. Then, go to the location marked on the map – it’s a small, hidden pier called Bounty’s Net where some fishermen are fishing. Look to the right side of the pier, and you’ll see one fisherman with a unique Fishing Rod. That’s the Claw.
You can get The Claw by bumping into or slightly pushing the fisherman, causing him to drop it. Be careful though – he’s close to the water, and his Fishing Rod often falls in, making it unrecoverable. Fortunately, there’s a solution to avoid losing the rod.
To steal the Claw, here’s what you need to do:
- Kick the fisherman to make him drop The Claw.
- If it drops in the water, back off for a bit, and the fisherman will reach into the water and pick it up again.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the Claw falls on solid ground.
- Steal the Claw and run away.
Okay, so I learned the hard way – if I try to escape with the Claw before the timer runs out and step outside that red circle, I won’t get the reward. Basically, gotta stay within the zone until the time’s up!
How to Find Patrigio and Earn His Trust
You can find Patrigio, a wandering merchant, near the Howling Hill camp in Crimson Desert. He appears between midnight and 3:00 AM, but only after you’ve finished Chapter 3 of the game’s main story.
Okay, so I’ve been running around Howling Hill a lot, and I’ve figured out where Patrigio pops up. I’ve spotted him right inside the camp, basically right in front of Ross – you know, the guy who handles dispatch? He’s also been hanging out on that little road just outside the camp, the one that leads to Hernand, and I even saw him near the Goldleaf Trading Post. Just a heads-up for anyone else looking for him!
To find Patrigio, try resting at a bed or bonfire in the Howling Hill camp until just before midnight. When it hits 12:00 AM, leave the camp, turn left, and head down the steep path towards Hernand – you’ll likely run into Patrigio on the way.
To fully befriend Patrigio, give him 20 Copper Pouches – any value will do. You can find these pouches by looting enemies after battles. Once your trust with Patrigio is maxed out at 100, he’ll reward you with The Claw Fishing Rod.
