As an old-timer gamer with more years on the controller than I care to admit, I can confidently say that Red Dead Redemption’s Fame mechanic is as unpredictable as a wild mustang galloping across the plains. It’s a challenging yet intriguing aspect of the game that adds depth to John Marston’s character.
In the game “Red Dead Redemption“, there’s a distinctive system called “Fame” that measures the recognition of characters John Marston and Jack Marston throughout the Wild West. Their actions, whether they are good or bad, impact their level of Fame. An achievement in this game titled “Man of Honor/Chivalry’s Dead” is earned when you’ve reached the highest rank in Fame. Since it isn’t always obvious what raises Fame, we’ve prepared a comprehensive guide that explains the best methods to boost Fame in “Red Dead Redemption“.
How To Increase Fame in Red Dead Redemption
In order to boost your character’s reputation level in “Red Dead Redemption”, you can engage in various activities such as finishing missions, taking on side quests, and participating in challenges. Additionally, assisting strangers, winning gunfights and games also contribute to your Fame rating. If these actions don’t seem sufficient, consider partaking in the following additional activities:
- Wearing the Elegant Suit and then trying to cheat at poker triggers a duel. If you manage to disarm an opponent in the duel, you’ll quickly increase your Fame.
- Sparing an enemy’s life instead of killing them, when given the option, rewards Marston with double the amount of Fame.
- Disarming a duel opponent grants 100 Fame, while killing them awards only 50. As such, choose to disarm to increase Fame. You can repeat this as many times as you like.
- Robbing civilians and prostitutes is another way to get 50 Fame points. However, keep in mind you’ll lose Honor every time you do this.
- Ditch the Bandana in Red Dead Redemption. While it looks cool, wearing the Bandana prevents you from gaining Fame.
- For players with the Golden Guns pack, using guns to kill enemies will increase Fame at a higher rate than normal.
Contrary to Honor, which can rise and fall, Fame perpetually ascends without ever diminishing – unless artificial means are employed. Maintaining both high Honor and Fame will earn you the title of a revered hero, whereas a low Honor level paired with high Fame designates you as an infamous outlaw.
