Rainbow Six Siege Is Finally Getting Full Crossplay

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement about the latest development in Rainbow Six Siege – crossplay between PC and console players! Nine years is a long time in gaming, and the fact that this game has managed to stay relevant for so long speaks volumes about its quality.

Over nine thrilling years into my gaming journey with Rainbow Six Siege, I’m beyond excited to share that crossplay between PC and console gamers is finally here! This long-awaited feature was unveiled during the Operation Collision Point reveal on Sunday.

In the realm of online gaming, console users will encounter three distinct matchmaking options when seeking an opponent. These are system-specific pools for playing against peers on the same platform, a crossplay pool exclusive to PlayStation and Xbox, and a PC crossplay pool. You can adjust this setting in the general settings, under “Crossplay Matchmaking”.

From the perspective of the players, they’re empowered to extend invitations to any individual for a match via Ubisoft Connect. For console users who wish to engage in multiplayer sessions with PC gamers, there will be a distinct PC leaderboard separate from their conventional console rank for ranked playlists.

The team anticipates that crossplay could lead to issues with cheating, so they’ve been proactively addressing this potential problem prior to its implementation.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: Mousetrap V2 is making its way into the mix to ensure a well-balanced gaming experience, according to your friendly neighborhood UX Designer, Abhishek Agarwal.

Alexander Karpazis, the Creative Director, explained that the new system can identify players using mouse and keyboard who are competing against console-only players. If such players are detected, they will be shifted to the PC player group. Moreover, he discussed a novel “Cheater Match Elimination” system designed to expel cheaters from the game and nullify the entire match if any cheating is discovered.
