Three Upcoming Free to Play Games May Dominate the End of 2024

As someone who’s been navigating the digital battlefields since the days of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, I can confidently say that the gaming landscape of 2024 is more vibrant than ever! With my wallet feeling the strain from all the full-price releases, these upcoming free-to-play games are a breath of fresh air. They’re not just games; they’re titans on the horizon, ready to dominate the gaming world before the year’s end.

2024 has been an outstanding year for video game launches, however, many of the standout titles have been priced at full cost, which can put a strain on one’s finances. As someone who works, I find it challenging to afford every new release. There’s something particularly appealing about downloading a new game, enjoying it for numerous hours, and not spending a cent. Luckily, this is about to become more accessible, as three free-to-play games are set to debut before the year ends, and I can’t wait to see them take center stage!

Upcoming Free-to-Play Games Coming Before 2024 Ends

In December, three highly anticipated free-to-play games from different genres are set to launch, each gathering excitement prior to their release for numerous reasons. These include “Delta Force,” a game touted as a potential competitor to “Battlefield,” “Marvel Rivals,” a hero shooter featuring team-versus-team PvP, and “Path of Exile 2,” an impressive ARPG renowned for its unique passive skill tree and character classes.

Delta Force

  • Title: Delta Force
  • Developer: Team Jade
  • Release Date: December 4
  • Price: Free to Play
  • Genre: First-Person Shooter

The free-to-play first-person shooter from developer Team Jade, which many consider the ultimate “Battlefield killer” (as if we haven’t had a thousand of those), has enjoyed immense success with its multiple beta test periods over the past few months. We here at TopMob spent a lot of time with the Delta Force and even called it the “best Battlefield game played in years.”

As a gaming enthusiast, I can tell you that this game offers a massive arsenal of weapons, along with numerous chances to tweak them to suit my playstyle. It’s not just about guns though; there’s vehicle combat too! The variety doesn’t stop there – multiple game modes ensure there’s always something new to explore. For those who love a good story, there’s a single-player experience that’s as engaging as a page-turner. There’s an ‘extraction’ mode where the stakes are higher and the tension is palpable. Lastly, the large-scale infantry battles on expansive maps mean no two rounds ever feel the same – it’s always thrilling and unpredictable!

Marvel Rivals

  • Title: Marvel Rivals
  • Developer: NetEase Games
  • Release Date: December 5
  • Price: Free to Play
  • Genre: Hero Shooter

Although I’ve grown weary of the hero shooter genre following brief stints with games like Overwatch half a decade back, it remains a thriving competitive landscape that eagerly awaits new releases from its dedicated gaming community. The upcoming game Marvel Rivals, developed by NetEase Games, could potentially be that long-awaited release as a free-to-play third-person shooter, blending the traditional arena battles of titles such as Overwatch and Concord with an array of iconic Marvel characters.

Marvel Rivals offers a 6 versus 6 arena battle experience where dynamic battlegrounds shift throughout the fight. Superheroes and villains like Rocket Raccoon, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, and more engage using their unique abilities and powers to conquer objectives and overpower the opposing team. Join in for exhilarating, unparalleled action!

Path of Exile 2

Three Upcoming Free to Play Games May Dominate the End of 2024

  • Title: Path of Exile 2
  • Developer: Grinding Gear Games
  • Release Date: December 6
  • Price: Free to Play
  • Genre: Action RPG

I’m completely hooked on the ARPG genre, having spent my youth battling through games like Champions of Norrath and early Diablo titles alongside my stepfather. That initial love for grinding has stayed with me throughout the years, and you can usually find me either in Diablo IV or Path of Exile. Just like many others out there, I’m excitedly counting down the days until we get to see more. And finally, the wait is over. Path of Exile 2 goes into Early Access on December 6, offering a vast campaign, six-player cooperative gameplay, an upgraded passive skill tree, and an unprecedented amount of class and playstyle diversity compared to previous versions.

In six acts, Path of Exile 2 offers over a hundred boss battles, approximately 600 distinct adversaries, twelve fundamental character classes, and thirty-six Ascendancies – making it larger, improved, and more engrossing than ever. Bring on the challenge!

This December also offers a variety of video game releases, both free-to-play and paid, ensuring there’s something for every gaming preference and style!
