How to Slaughter Livestock for Ben in Crimson Desert

Once players establish their ranch at Howling Hill during the Field of Abundance questline in Crimson Desert, Ben, the ranch foreman, will give them a new quest called “Ben’s Request.”

To finish this task, players need to catch a wild goat and deliver it to the ranch. They’ll also learn how to process livestock by using the ranch’s butchering stations, which is an important skill for managing the base. However, the game doesn’t clearly explain how to actually butcher the animals – Ben just asks you to do it.

How to Butcher Livestock for Ben’s Request in Crimson Desert

To slaughter livestock for Ben’s Request in Crimson Desert, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Catch a goat, a cow, or a pig and bring it back to the ranch at Howling Hill camp.

    2. Register the animal at the ranch by carrying it through the right-most stall. Talk to Ben using the “Ranch” option and select “Manage Ranch.”

  2. Select the livestock you want to butcher and press and hold the slaughter hotkey (visible on the bottom right corner of the screen).
  3. The livestock will be slaughtered, and this part of Ben’s Request will be completed.

Once you’ve finished the slaughter, speak with Ben to complete the “Ben’s Request” mission. You’ll be rewarded with animal meat, camp supplies, a boost of 50 to Ben’s trust, 50 Greymane Contribution experience points, and 3 extra spaces in your inventory.

You can only slaughter larger animals, such as goats or cows. Smaller animals, like chicks bought from Ben, aren’t eligible.

If the goat mentioned in Ben’s previous request is still on the ranch, you’re allowed to slaughter it. Keep in mind, though, that doing so will leave the ranch with no animals until you add more.

Currently in Crimson Desert, you can’t complete the “Butcher livestock” part of Ben’s Request by taking a goat to the butcher stall. You have to slaughter the animals directly through Ben to finish that objective.

Where to Find Livestock for Slaughter in Crimson Desert

The simplest way to obtain livestock for slaughter in Crimson Desert is to catch the wild goats found in the open fields southeast of Howling Hill camp, located above the pit containing the Dragon’s Stone Chamber Puzzle.

Quickly travel to the Howling Hill Abyss Nexus. From there, go to the spot marked on your map – you’ll find a big group of goats and kids (baby goats) that you can catch. These are all wild animals, so collecting them isn’t considered stealing in Crimson Desert, unlike taking animals from farms near towns.

After you’ve successfully caught a goat, use a whistle to call your horse. Then, ride back to the ranch at Howling Hill camp to officially record the catch and prepare the goat for consumption.

To steal animals, you’ll need a Mask. You can get one by finishing the Jeffrey Bounty, finding it on bandits, or buying it from the Back Alley Vendor located southeast of Hernand.
