ARC Raiders Players Shouldn’t Sleep On the New Scrappy Update

Embark Studios recently updated ARC Raiders with a new update called Flashpoint, and players are amazed by the improvements to a popular in-game character named Scrappy the rooster. Since the game launched last October, Scrappy has been a favorite among players, and the March 31st update has made him even more impactful.

You know, everyone loves Scrappy in ARC Raiders, but his origin story is wild! Apparently, he started as a real rooster named Hakan who crashed one of the developers’ Zoom calls. Seriously! One of the artists, Johan, secretly scanned Hakan into the game, and when the team needed something to gather resources, they thought, ‘Why not Hakan?’ And that’s how Scrappy, the resource-collecting rooster, was born! It’s pretty cool how a random Zoom bomber ended up becoming such a key part of the game, honestly.

Scrappy Can Now Gather Matriarch Reactors for Players

In ARC Raiders, Scrappy is a reliable companion for collecting essential materials like cloth, metal, and rubber after each raid. Players can even improve Scrappy to find more loot. A recent update on March 31 added a new feature: players can now feed Scrappy to get specific types of items. The food you give Scrappy determines what he’ll find – for example, feeding him olives increases the chance of getting medical supplies, while mushrooms can lead to gear and equipment.

Scrappy, a recent addition to the game, initially seemed like a simple way to earn a few extra rewards with minimal effort. However, players are discovering he can actually provide surprisingly valuable items. One player shared on the ARC Raiders subreddit that they received a rare Matriarch Reactor from Scrappy after feeding him a Fruit Mix – an item normally earned by defeating the challenging Matriarch boss (or at least one of its legs!). Another player followed up with proof that Scrappy can also award a Queen Reactor, typically obtained by defeating the Queen boss.

The recent Flashpoint update for ARC Raiders brought significant changes beyond just giving Scrappy a clearer role. Shredders are no longer limited to the Stella Montis area, and players now have two new weapons at their disposal: the Canto, a submachine gun using medium ammo for medium-range combat, and the Dolabra, a versatile energy shotgun that can fire both wide bursts and focused beams. A new map condition, ‘Close Scrutiny,’ has also been added. While loot is generally less valuable during this event, a new character called the ARC Assessor offers valuable ARC-related gear.

Reaching the ARC Assessor is quite challenging. You’ll have to deal with common enemies like Wasps, Hornets, and Rocketeers, but now the area is also protected by the Vaporizer, a new enemy from ARC Raiders. This flying enemy is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous in the game because of its powerful laser attacks and unpredictable behavior. If you’re participating in the new Close Scrutiny event, it’s best to bring plenty of Lure Grenades, Smoke Grenades, and a Photoelectric Cloak to avoid being defeated by the Vaporizer.
