Fable Alpha Gameplay Footage Details Revealed by Insider

As a long-time fan of both Fable and The Witcher series, I can hardly contain my excitement upon hearing that Fable’s alpha gameplay footage bears similarities to CD Projekt Red’s DNA. Having grown up with the original Fable and spending countless hours exploring Albion, this news brings back fond memories while also promising a fresh, exciting experience.

Trustworthy industry expert, Jez Corden, has shared insights about the alpha gameplay footage of Fable, hinting at a gameplay style reminiscent of CD Projekt Red’s productions.

In the recent installment of The Xbox Two podcast (posted by ZakkenKloot on X), Jez Corden had a chance to view some early gameplay footage for Fable and was thrilled, referring to it as “simply amazing.” Yet, Corden remains unclear about when this alpha version will be released.

In simpler terms, Corden talks about how the early gameplay footage of Fable seems to carry traces of “CD Projekt Red’s genetic code.” He goes on to say that some team members from CD Projekt Red, such as a combat designer, have been brought in by Playground Games for this project.

Based on the battle video clips, he can discern the source of its inspiration. Although the gameplay doesn’t perfectly mirror The Witcher, it incorporates comparable mechanisms. Moreover, the video appears “exceptionally refined” for an early alpha version.

Additionally, Corden unveiled that Fable’s alpha gameplay demonstrated a variety of weapon options such as bows, arrows, spells, and melee weapons—much like those wielded by Geralt. He further discussed the layout of specific enemy types, incorporating both humorous and terrifying aspects for chickens and werewolves. In summary, he found the gameplay to be impressive and combat to be “extremely refined” even at the alpha stage.
