Fan Art Reimagines Pokemon as Lilo and Stitch Characters

A Pokemon artist reimagined six Pokemon as experiments from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, sharing a side-by-side comparison of the original Pokemon and their new designs. The artist maintained the original color schemes of each Pokemon while giving them the style of the experiments from the movie.

Disney’s animated film Lilo and Stitch first came out in June 2002. It’s about an alien experiment, known as Experiment 626, who crash-lands in Hawaii. A young girl named Lilo adopts him, calling him Stitch. In 2025, a live-action version of Lilo and Stitch was released and earned over $1 billion in theaters. While critics generally reacted positively, some noted that the remake differed from the original animated film.

Pokemon Fan Artist Gives Six Critters an Experiment-Inspired Makeover

People often reimagine what Pokémon could look like, and one artist took that idea a step further. On Reddit, a user named Troytheartboy shared their versions of six Pokémon redesigned as the “Experiments” from Lilo & Stitch. They gave Wartortle, Charmander, Banette, Mankey, Espeon, and Latias a new look, posting their artwork alongside the official Pokémon designs for comparison. The redesigned Pokémon feature rounded eyes, spots, extra claws, and mouse-like ears. Banette’s zipper mouth was replaced with sharp teeth, but still includes some zipper elements. Wartortle gained hollow ears with pink interiors, giving it a stouter, mouse-like shape. Charmander’s design remained fairly close to the original, still featuring the flame on its tail.

Espeon received a redesign with a third-eye gem and heart-shaped tail tips. Latias was given more teeth and yellow eyes, while Mankey was illustrated in a leaping pose with dark eyes. This isn’t the first time Pokémon have been reimagined as experiments – artist Troytheartboy previously created similar fan art in 2024, drawing Pokémon like Torchic and Mudkip as alien-like creatures inspired by Lilo & Stitch. Fans praised Troytheartboy’s work and expressed interest in seeing more Pokémon drawn in this style.

Both Pokemon and Lilo and Stitch Have Busy Years Ahead

A new piece of fan art for Pokemon arrived as the series is getting ready for some big releases. Pokemon Champions will launch on Nintendo Switch on April 8th, with a mobile version for Android and iOS expected in 2026. This online battle simulator will become the official competitive format for the Pokemon Video Game Championships (VGC). Plus, development is underway for the tenth generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Winds and Waves, planned for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. While official information about Pokemon Winds and Waves is still limited, fan art featuring the new starter Pokemon has already gained a lot of attention online.

Disney announced in June 2025 that a live-action sequel to Lilo and Stitch is being made. Currently titled Lilo and Stitch 2, the movie is planned to hit theaters on May 26, 2028, but that date could change.
