Skyroot can be tricky to find in Crimson Desert, but there’s a good source near the Kilnden Workshop in western Hernand. Once you’ve seen what the Skyroot plant looks like, you’ll be able to spot it in other areas too. You’ll need a lot of Skyroot to improve your character, so this guide points you to an easy-to-reach spot to gather it early in the game.
Crimson Desert Skyroot Location
West of Kilnden Workshop, on a hill, you’ll find a dense patch of thorny vines with about 10 Skyroot plants. Look for two small trees with star-shaped leaves – that’s where Skyroots grow. Specifically, Skyroots are the roots of these plants.
Skyroots are pretty rare, so you won’t find them everywhere. Luckily, the game’s Knowledge section in your Journal says you can find more of them in the Crimson Desert, so be sure to search around when you’re there.
In Crimson Desert, Skyroots are different from other plants. You need to have a shovel equipped to collect them. You don’t have to specifically target the Skyroots – simply walk around the small trees, and harvest prompts will appear. Press the button when it shows up, and your character will dig them up.
Need a shovel? You can find one near the wooden post by the two small Skyroot trees. Select it from your equipment wheel when you need it, and when you’re finished, you can either hold onto it or discard it to free up space in your inventory.
Just so you know, natural resources like Skyroot reappear every seven days within the game. If you’re looking for more Skyroot in Crimson Desert, you can either return to this location after a week, or find a different place to gather it.
What to Do With Skyroot?
- Research
- Cooking
- Abyss Gear Crafting
Okay, so one of the biggest reasons I’m farming Skyroots is for Abyss Gear crafting. Specifically, I need them to make some seriously useful stuff, like Vigor 1, which boosts how quickly my stamina refills. You need Skyroots along with other materials, like Abyss Cells, to actually craft it, so it’s a key ingredient.
Skyroots temporarily give you unlimited stamina and slightly lower your stamina usage. They’re even more effective when used in cooking. For instance, the Tart Special meal uses Skyroots and, when eaten, reduces your stamina cost by 10% for three minutes.
The Scholastone Institute is also researching Skyroots. Completing both research projects will let you get seeds from harvested Skyroots, which you can then plant in Greymanes Camp in Howling Hill. If you use Skyroot often, it’s a good idea to finish these projects quickly – and remember to water and fertilize your plants!
