When Jetpack Cat was introduced as a hero in Season 1 of Overwatch’s Reign of Talon, players immediately began brainstorming creative combinations with other heroes. Now, they’ve discovered a particularly powerful pairing: using Jetpack Cat to amplify the impact of Orisa’s Ultimate ability, making it even more effective.
Early on, players found a lot of success with combinations like Cassidy, Soldier: 76, and Reinhardt when using the Jetpack Cat ability. Cassidy worked well because of the already popular “Sky Noons” strategy, where the cowboy teams up with Lifeweaver to launch into the air and target enemies. Jetpack Cat made this even easier. Similarly, a Soldier: 76 using his Tactical Visor while flying, and a Reinhardt flanking with Earthshatter were both very strong. However, it’s now becoming clear that Orisa and Jetpack Cat are the most effective combination.
Overwatch’s Jetpack Cat and Orisa Combo in Action
A Reddit user, Zestyclose-Salad-290, shared a video showcasing the current popular strategy involving the flying Orisa and Lúcio (nicknamed ‘Jetpack Cat’) in Overwatch 2. The video highlights multiple impressive plays – including quad kills on Watchpoint: Gibraltar and triple kills on other maps – demonstrating how effective this combination is. The strategy is straightforward: Lúcio boosts Orisa with his speed boost, carrying her into a large group of enemies. Orisa then uses her ultimate ability, Terra Surge, to deal massive damage to anyone caught in the blast radius.
The Attack Helicopter strategy gets even more chaotic and effective with Ana from Overwatch joining the game. While she could boost Orisa’s ultimate ability, a clip shows a more surprising tactic: boosting the Jetpack Cat. This makes the cat incredibly fast, letting it quickly carry Orisa into battle before the enemy team can respond. Viewers are finding the trick hilarious, though some worry it might be too powerful, allowing the Jetpack Cat to essentially carry teammates with its ultimate.
Because Lifeline is one of Jetpack Cat’s core skills, only the Orisa player needs to build their Ultimate ability. This makes the strategy more efficient than most Ultimate combinations.
How to Master (and Stop) Overwatch’s ‘Attack Helicopter’ Attack
If you’re an Overwatch player wanting to try this strategy, the key seems to be letting the Orisa player fully charge their Terra Surge ability before being launched forward. Usually, enemies can quickly eliminate Orisa while she’s charging, even with her increased health. However, having the Jetpack Cat player charge Orisa safely first, then fly in from an unexpected direction, can help avoid that. If you’re worried about facing this combo, Sombra appears to be a strong counter. She can hack both Orisa and Jetpack Cat, breaking the connection and causing Jetpack Cat to drop Orisa before she reaches the enemy team.
It’s often hard to actually play Fika in competitive matches because she’s frequently banned. However, when she does make it into the game, pairing her with Orisa is a very strong strategy. With good teamwork and communication, Orisa can quickly eliminate the enemy team thanks to Fika’s abilities.
