This Cult Classic Scream Sequel Finally Slashes Its Way to 4K (And VHS)

The horror franchise Scream is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Launched in 1996 by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, it breathed new life into slasher films, and its influence is still visible today with the recent release of Scream 7. That latest movie broke records for the series, becoming the first Scream film to earn over $200 million at the box office, leading to the announcement of Scream 8. But that wasn’t all! Fans also learned that a popular Scream sequel will soon be available in 4K resolution.

Scream 4 is Finally Getting a 4K Release

Lionsgate is releasing Scream 4 on 4K Ultra HD for the first time. Fans can purchase a combo pack with 4K, Blu-ray, and digital copies for $42.99, or a limited edition steelbook for $34.99. The steelbook features the original movie poster, showcasing Ghost Face and his knife. The back cover includes the iconic line “Welcome home, Sidney,” and the inside art depicts Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott preparing for a fight. The standard slipcover version has a collage of red-toned character and suspect images, including returning stars David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, as well as newer characters like Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby and Emma Roberts’ Jill.

But for dedicated collectors of physical media, the biggest news isn’t just the re-release itself. Lionsgate announced that Scream 4 will also be available on VHS for the first time, priced at $29.99. This special edition will feature a white VHS tape designed like Ghost Face’s mask, and the cover will show the killer’s mask reflected on a camcorder screen – a nice nod to the film’s story. Considering the original Scream trilogy came out during the peak of VHS popularity, and the video store in Woodsboro was important to the first movie, this is a perfect gift for slasher film fans.

Scream 4 is One of the Best Movies in the Series

After eleven years, a new Scream film arrived in 2011, bringing Sidney Prescott back to Woodsboro to promote her book, Out of Darkness. But a new Ghost Face killer emerges, pulling Sheriff Dewey into another dangerous mystery. Someone is once again targeting Sidney, and they’re using the Ghost Face legend as inspiration for their own Stab movie. While Scream 4 didn’t perform as well at the box office as other films in the series – it was the lowest-grossing with under $100 million worldwide – it has since gained a dedicated following. Its clever take on horror remakes and strong acting from cast members like Roberts and Panettiere contributed to its cult classic status.

Get ready for a spooky movie night! Scream 4 will be available on 4K Blu-ray and even VHS on June 9, 2026. You can pre-order the special Steelbook and VHS editions now on the Lionsgate Limited website. The 4K version includes new bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the film, a revisit to Scream 4, and a feature on the late director Wes Craven.
