In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, a Pokémon only earns Effort Values (EVs) if it gains experience points in battle – either by fighting itself or through the Exp. Share. It requires three accurate button presses in a row, which can be challenging. Fortunately, both Ten Lines and EonTimer let you calibrate the timing by entering data to fine-tune the timers until you consistently hit your target.
This technique might seem tricky at first, but it lets you obtain almost any Pokémon in the game legitimately – no cheating or glitches needed! This includes rare Pokémon like shiny Mewtwo and the Legendary Birds. If you can find your specific Trainer ID (SID) using a random starter Pokémon, you can reset the game right before choosing your starter (as long as you haven’t saved). Then, by carefully manipulating the game’s random number generator (RNG), you can get a shiny starter in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen much faster than spending hours in Professor Oak’s lab.
