Dragon Ball: Every God Transformation, Ranked

In Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta discovered a new source of power called God Ki. This allowed them to become much stronger and fight enemies far more powerful than any they’d faced before. The series has continued to expand on these different God forms since then.

Throughout Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta have constantly surpassed their limits with incredible new transformations powered by God Ki. This article will break down each of these God forms, explaining what makes them so strong and ranking them by both their power level and significance to the story.

Super Saiyan God Was Quickly Forgotten About

Debut Arc: Beerus The Destroyer Arc

The introduction of Super Saiyan God during the Beerus arc represented a significant shift in Dragon Ball. It gave Goku a new path of transformations, distinct from the traditional Super Saiyan forms. Fans generally loved this new transformation and were eager to see how it would be used in future storylines.

Super Saiyan God didn’t stay relevant for long. The Golden Frieza arc introduced a villain so powerful that Goku and Vegeta needed the even stronger Super Saiyan Blue form to defeat him. This quickly made Super Saiyan God seem weak in comparison, and while it’s shown up occasionally since then, it hasn’t been very useful.

Super Saiyan Blue Is The God Ki Plus Super Saiyan

Debut Arc: Golden Frieza Arc

In Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta frequently used a new, powerful form called Super Saiyan Blue, starting with the Golden Frieza arc. This transformation is achieved by combining the Super Saiyan state with the regular God form, making it a more potent version of both.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I’m always amazed by Super Saiyan Blue! It’s not just incredibly powerful – it’s a really stable power-up, letting Goku and Vegeta unleash massive energy against some seriously tough opponents. Honestly, it feels like the go-to form for our heroes in Dragon Ball Super, and I think that makes it the most important of all the God transformations. It’s just so reliable and strong!

Super Saiyan Rosé Is Goku Black’s Ultimate State

Debut Arc: Goku Black Arc

Super Saiyan Blue is an incredibly strong form, and when Goku Black, who possessed unique divine energy, used it, he developed his own version. This form, called Super Saiyan Rosé, functioned similarly to Super Saiyan Blue, but instead of a blue glow, it gave him pink hair and a pink aura.

Despite looking different, this transformation didn’t change what Goku Black could do. It dramatically increased his power, putting him on par with Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms. This allowed him to unleash completely new and incredibly powerful attacks, showcasing just how strong he’d become.

Toppo Awakened The Powers Of A Destroyer God

Debut Arc: Tournament of Power

Toppo was already an incredibly powerful fighter on Universe 11’s team, rivaling the strength of Super Saiyan Blue. But because he was training to become the next Destroyer God, he eventually transformed during the tournament, becoming even more fearsome.

Toppo’s new transformation unlocked the power of a Destroyer God within him, drastically increasing his muscle mass and granting him the ability to harness Destructive Energy. With this power, he effortlessly defeated Frieza and pushed even the evolved Super Saiyan Vegeta to his limits, demonstrating his immense strength.

Goku Pushed The Limits Of Super Saiyan Blue With Kaioken

Debut Arc: vs. Universe 6 Arc

Goku didn’t exactly achieve a new form, but he used a powerful combination. He layered the Kaioken technique – which boosts speed and strength – on top of his Super Saiyan Blue transformation, effectively making himself even stronger and faster.

This allowed Goku to rapidly increase his strength, and he demonstrated this by breaking free from Hit’s powerful Time Prison the very first time he used it. While not quite as powerful, Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken consistently performed at a similar level to Super Saiyan Blue Evolved throughout the series.

Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Increased This Power

Debut Arc: Tournament of Power

During their battle with Jiren in the Tournament of Power, Goku and Vegeta quickly discovered that their standard Super Saiyan Blue transformations weren’t strong enough to win. Determined to overcome this, Goku combined Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaioken technique, while Vegeta took Super Saiyan Blue to an even greater level.

Vegeta achieved a new form called Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, which functioned similarly to the Super Saiyan Grade 2 transformation. This significantly boosted his power and speed, making him a much greater challenge for Jiren. He demonstrated this by easily defeating Toppo’s Energy of Destruction and knocking him out of the tournament.

Ultra Instinct Sign First Showed The Angels’ Powers

Debut Arc: Tournament of Power

Before mastering Ultra Instinct, Goku initially displayed an earlier, less refined form that was still remarkably strong. This initial version, often called Ultra Instinct Sign, featured the incredible defensive abilities of the technique, but lacked the power to deliver significant offensive attacks.

Goku first unlocked this form during the Tournament of Power, and it initially allowed him to fight against Jiren. While it wasn’t strong enough to defeat Jiren at his full power, Ultra Instinct Sign was still a remarkably powerful transformation given the circumstances.

Ultra Ego Makes Use Of A Destroyer’s Powers

Debut Arc: Granolah Arc

While other characters had used the powerful Energy of Destruction before him, Vegeta mastered it better than anyone. Frustrated by the way Ultra Instinct clashed with his warrior spirit, he dedicated himself to improving his own abilities. This led him to develop Ultra Ego, a transformation that ultimately put him on par with Ultra Instinct.

Vegeta’s Ultra Ego allowed him to harness the power of Destruction, exceeding even Goku and Toppo in its raw strength. Remarkably, he achieved this despite being new to the form and not fully controlling it. If Vegeta masters Ultra Ego, it could become the most powerful transformation of all.

True Ultra Instinct Mixed The Technique With Saiyan Powers

Debut Arc: Granolah Arc

Ultra Instinct is different from how Saiyans usually get stronger. While Saiyan power grows with intense feelings, Ultra Instinct demands complete focus, requiring the user to let go of all emotions. This creates a striking contrast – a power that thrives on detachment instead of passion.

Although Ultra Instinct significantly increased Goku’s power, it also hindered his potential for further improvement. During the Granolah arc, he unlocked True Ultra Instinct, letting him enjoy the advantages of both forms at once. This gave him incredible defense, while also allowing him to continue growing stronger by utilizing his Saiyan abilities and fighting spirit.

Mastered Ultra Instinct Is The Pinnacle Of Martial Arts

Debut Arc: Tournament of Power

Goku stands out from other heroes in the series because of his natural talent for martial arts and his relentless dedication to becoming stronger. This was most evident during the Tournament of Power, where he mastered a powerful technique previously known only to the Angels.

Ultra Instinct dramatically boosted Goku’s power, allowing him to easily defeat even the incredibly strong Jiren. He continued to improve his control over this ability in subsequent battles, and is now widely regarded as the most powerful hero in the entire multiverse.

Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
