Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale Expansion Controversy Explained

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Storybook Vale Expansion Controversy Explained

As a seasoned player of Disney Dreamlight Valley, I must say that the latest expansion pass, Storybook Vale, has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The anticipation leading up to its release was palpable, and when it finally dropped on November 20th, I was eager to dive in and explore this new world. However, it seems the excitement was short-lived for many players who purchased the Magical Edition of the DLC.

Last month during the 2024 Disney Dreamlight Valley Showcase stream, it was announced that a fresh expansion pass for Disney Dreamlight Valley is on its way. Known as the Storybook Vale DLC, this expansion will be rolled out in two segments. The initial part of the expansion is now available for purchase, starting from November 20. Unfortunately, some players encountered difficulties when trying to acquire the new Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC, resulting in a wave of discontent and debate among the gaming community.

Although the news about the new DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley came out not long ago, fans have shown great enthusiasm about the upcoming features. So far, this game has only one other expansion pass, titled A Rift in Time, which was launched in December 2023. This DLC introduced five characters into the game: EVE from WALL-E, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Jafar from Aladdin, Rapunzel from Tangled, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Disney’s earliest characters. Unfortunately, a section of this DLC has been delayed in reaching players’ Valleys, causing several fans to voice their complaints.

Welcome to the Vale Has Lots of Additions

In two segments, the Storybook Vale Expansion Pass for Disney Dreamlight Valley is set to roll out. The initial segment, “Welcome to the Vale,” was unveiled on November 20th this year. The second part, titled “The Unwritten Realms,” is scheduled for a summer release in the year 2025. While specifics about the second installment are limited, it’s confirmed that Maleficent will appear in the DLC.

In this latest update for the Vale, you’ll meet three intriguing characters: Merida from Brave, Hades from Hercules, and Flynn Rider from Tangled. We’ve also introduced three fresh environments – The Bind, Everafter, and Mythtopia – in the DLC. You’ll join forces with Merida and Flynn Rider to vanquish Hades. A brand-new piece of equipment, the Royal Net, has been added as part of this expansion pack. This net can be utilized to catch Snippets, a new type of origami-style paper creatures that share similar gameplay characteristics with Critters.

Storybook Vale Special Editions and Exclusive Items

With the unveiling of the DLC (Downloadable Content), Gameloft has revealed fresh versions of the game Disney Dreamlight Valley. The Storybook Vale DLC stands at $29.99 individually, but for a more enriched experience, the Magical Edition of the DLC, priced at $49.99, offers additional perks such as the Autumn Manor House Style, Storybook Vale Dress & Ensemble, a Baby Pegasus Companion & House, and 10,000 Moonstones, an in-game currency. For those seeking even more content, there’s an Enchanted Edition of the game available at $79.99. This edition includes all the aforementioned items, both expansion passes for Disney Dreamlight Valley, the base game itself, and a generous 18,000 Moonstones.

There was some criticism directed at Gameloft when initial promotional images for the Storybook Vale DLC were released, concerning their portrayal of Flynn Rider. However, this recent uproar isn’t about the character’s visual appearance; instead, it seems that certain content is missing from the new Magical Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley, which players have purchased.

Premium Items Were Never Mailed to the Valley

Approximately three hours following the launch of the Storybook Vale DLC, gamers who bought the latest Magical Edition reported a shortage of at least 5,000 Moonstones and all the edition’s unique extra items. Historically, these bonuses were distributed to players through Disney Dreamlight Valley’s internal Mailbox system.

Initially, it was anticipated that today’s update would include the missing content, but players experienced frustration for several hours due to its absence. The lack of content sparked significant criticism from gamers, however, Disney Dreamlight Valley assured that they would address the problem as mentioned in a post on X (previously Twitter). In response, Storybook Vale’s Magical Edition was temporarily removed from sale while Gameloft looked into the issue.

4pm Pacific Time/ 7pm Eastern Time on November 20, Disney Dreamlight Valley shared an update on X platform, assuring players that a fix has been implemented to address the problem where some players were experiencing delays in receiving Moonstones and exclusive bundle content items from Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale – Magical Edition. They were advised to shut down and restart their game, after which they should find their rewards waiting in their in-game mailbox.

Despite a bumpy launch, the positive response from fans towards the Welcome to the Vale chapter of the Storybook Vale Expansion Pass in Disney Dreamlight Valley is expected to grow over the next few days. Gamers eager to incorporate Hades, Merida, and Flynn Rider into their game can obtain this new DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley, available for purchase starting at $29.99 as of now.
