My Hero Academia: 7 Strongest Body Manipulation Quirks, Ranked

The anime My Hero Academia quickly became popular with shonen fans, showcasing a diverse range of superpowers called Quirks. Many of these Quirks drew inspiration from famous superheroes in Marvel and DC comics, like those from the X-Men and Justice League. My Hero Academia organizes these Quirks into different categories, with ‘Emitter’ types being particularly common. However, the series also features other interesting Quirk types, including those that create mutations or allow for body modification.

These Quirks change how a person’s body works, often enhancing their senses, altering their form, or even creating natural weapons. Some, like Jurota Shishida’s Beast Quirk or Mezo Shoji’s Dupli-Arms, are quite strong, but others are among the most powerful abilities seen in My Hero Academia. These body-altering Quirks have played a crucial role in major conflicts, impacting the fight for Japan’s future between professional heroes, UA students, and the League of Villains.

Rifle Performs Deadly Long-Range Attacks

User: Lady Nagant

While not the strongest body-altering Quirk, Rifle is still a significant threat in a fight. In My Hero Academia, Quirks are often divided into ranged and melee types, and Lady Nagant’s Rifle Quirk is a prime example of a long-distance ability. It’s ineffective at close range, but that weakness can be overcome with support from allies.

I’m really fascinated by the Rifle Quirk! It’s perfect for long-range attacks, just like you’d expect. But what’s really cool is how Lady Nagant uses her own hair as ammo! She can completely transform her right arm into a living rifle – it’s part of her, so nobody can disarm her! Sure, running out of hair might seem like a problem, but Lady Nagant is a pro, so I’m sure she’s mastered conserving her ammo and using Rifle strategically in a fight.

Meatball Can Turn Any Foe Into a Helpless Lump of Flesh

User: Seiji Shishikura

It’s easy to overlook some of the unique abilities, or Quirks, in the My Hero Academia universe, especially those belonging to characters with smaller roles. This is unfortunate because the students at Shiketsu High, a rival hero school, possess some impressive powers. A good example is Seiji Shishikura’s Meatball Quirk, which he used to challenge Denki, Bakugo, and Kirishima.

Seiji is skilled at using his Quirk, Meatball, both offensively and subtly to defeat opponents – he’s even managed to overcome Katsuki Bakugo. With just a touch, Meatball turns people into helpless, immobile flesh, stripping them of their abilities. He used this power to incapacitate many aspiring heroes during the provisional license exam, dismissing them as unfit. It’s unfortunate that such a useful ability is in the hands of someone as arrogant as Seiji.

Pump Up is Ideal For Melee-Only Showdowns

User: Muscular

Many villains in My Hero Academia have Quirks that change their bodies, with varying levels of power. While Spinner’s Gecko Quirk wasn’t particularly strong, Moonfish’s Blade-Tooth Quirk is worth noting. However, Muscular, a member of the League of Villains, possesses an even more powerful Quirk called Pump Up. This Quirk was responsible for the deaths of Kota Izumi’s parents and nearly killed both Kota and Deku.

I’m seriously impressed by Muscular’s Quirk, Pump Up! It’s such a straightforward ability, but the results are incredible. He can just massively inflate his muscles, giving him a huge boost in strength – honestly, it was comparable to early One For All Deku! But it doesn’t stop there; if he really needs to, he can push Pump Up to its limit and basically turn his body into an armored fortress, able to withstand almost any hit. It’s a really powerful ability when used right.

Manifest Turns a Menu Into a Battle Plan

User: Tamaki Amajiki

Among the top third-year students at UA are three incredibly strong heroes, and Tamaki Amajiki is one of them. His unique Quirk, called Manifest, lets him transform parts of his body into anything he’s eaten – essentially, ‘you are what you eat.’ He commonly turns himself into things like chickens, clams, or octopi.

This ability is versatile, but surprisingly, it doesn’t seem very strong when you actually see it in action. While its adaptability is a key benefit, the actual power behind it is much greater than many realize. Tamaki proved this by defeating three members of the Eight Bullets during the Shie Hassaikai Arc, solidifying his position as one of UA High’s most powerful students – and earning his place among the “big three” as the hero Suneater.

Foldabody Works For Stealth and Precision Attacks

User: Edgeshot

Watching the top heroes in My Hero Academia, you really notice how amazing their Quirks are – whether it’s something flashy like Hell Flame or more subtle like Fiber Master, and even the powerful One For All. But I think one Quirk doesn’t get enough attention: Foldabody, used by the hero Edgeshot. We haven’t seen it used that much in the series, which is a shame, because when you really look at the moments it does appear, you can see just how useful and versatile it is.

Edgeshot’s Quirk, Foldabody, allows him to compress his body into an incredibly thin, thread-like form – and it’s surprisingly versatile. He can use this to slip through almost any space undetected. In battle, he can even transform into a living spear to pierce opponents, and has proven effective against even powerful enemies like Nomu by striking vital points. Perhaps the most remarkable use of Foldabody was when Edgeshot temporarily became a functioning heart for Bakugo, saving his life.

Transform’s Awakened Form Can Threaten All of Japan

User: Himiko Toga

I’ve always been fascinated by Himiko Toga’s Transform Quirk! While it might not be the strongest manipulation ability out there, even from the beginning it was super effective. It doesn’t directly cause damage, which some people see as a weakness, but that’s actually what makes it so clever! She can transform into anyone and catch her opponents off guard, making it incredibly easy to strike when they least expect it. Honestly, it’s perfect for sneaking around, gathering intel, or just causing some serious trouble behind enemy lines.

After Himiko Toga’s Quirk, Transform, fully developed, it became the second most powerful body manipulation ability in My Hero Academia. Once awakened, Transform allowed her to not only copy someone’s appearance, but also their Quirk. She demonstrated this by using Zero Gravity to defeat Curious and, with the Double Quirk, nearly caused a national crisis with Sad Man’s Death Parade.

Fierce Wings Excels in Mobility and Offensive Power

User: Hawks

I’ve been thinking about Quirks in My Hero Academia, and Hawks’ Fierce Wings is seriously one of the strongest. It seems basic – he has feathered wings, kind of like the X-Men’s Angel – but it’s so much more than just flight. He can move unbelievably fast with those wings, getting him to battles quickly or helping him dodge attacks in the air. It’s a really powerful ability, even if it doesn’t sound that complicated at first.

Hawks’ Quirk, Fierce Wings, is incredibly powerful in battle. The large feathers can harden into sword-like blades, allowing him to attack quickly from above. He can also launch dozens or even hundreds of feathers to injure opponents, as seen during his fight with Twice. Beyond combat, Fierce Wings is also useful for rescuing people, as the wings can carry many individuals at once, quickly evacuating them from dangerous areas.
