This is the Last Hope for Chainsaw Man Fans

The first part of Chainsaw Man recently finished, and fans have mixed feelings about how it ended. Like with other popular action manga lately, some viewers were disappointed with the conclusion and are hoping for more to come, perhaps with a new chapter or a continuation of the story.

Although it doesn’t look likely, there’s a small chance we might get more story content in the coming months. But, those who didn’t enjoy the original story probably won’t be thrilled with any additional material.

Chainsaw Man Ended in Chapter 232

The following section contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man.

When the final chapter of Chainsaw Man Part 2 was announced a few weeks ago, many fans hoped Tatsuki Fujimoto had another story arc planned. The first part also ended unexpectedly, quickly followed by the announcement of Part 2, so fans were unsure what to anticipate with Chapter 232.

Following chapters 230 and 231, it seemed like the story was finally reaching its true conclusion, and it was. In chapter 232, titled “Thank You, Chainsaw Man,” Pochita sacrifices himself to create a new reality where Chainsaw Man never existed. This resets Denji to the beginning of the story, but with a twist: during his fight with the Zombie Devil, Power saves him and shares her blood. They then come under the care of Nayuta, the Control Devil. Makima is nowhere to be found in this new timeline, though Pochita’s heart remains within Denji. That essentially wraps up the story.

Many Fans Can’t Believe This is the End

It’s no surprise that many fans are disappointed with how the series ended. They feel it was too fast and didn’t provide a satisfying conclusion. Some are even hoping it’s a joke and that there’s another chapter coming. However, despite the negative reactions, everything points to this being the true ending. There haven’t been any hints or announcements from the author, Fujimoto, suggesting a continuation.

I’ve noticed something really interesting lately – it seems like a lot of the biggest series in Shonen Jump have been ending with endings that really divide fans. Think about Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and now Chainsaw Man. They were all huge, and their conclusions have sparked massive debates. It’s totally understandable that finishing a long-running story is tough, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s a bigger reason why so many are choosing these kinds of endings.

The Final Volume Might Have a Few Surprises in Store

Just to be clear, Chapter 233 isn’t happening. It’s pretty obvious at this point. If there were plans for a continuation of the story, we would have heard about it by now. However, that doesn’t mean fans won’t get more Chainsaw Man content eventually, though it might not be in the form they’re expecting.

Th-Thank you… Chainsaw Man.

Now that the last chapter is out and gives us a sense of how the story will end, the team is still putting all the chapters together into a complete book. It’s typical for these books to include some extra content beyond what was originally published, and that’s even more likely with the final volume. So, Fujimoto will probably add some new artwork, and he might tweak a few details of the story.

Many other manga series in Shonen Jump often include extra content at the end of their final volumes, like epilogues. Fans are hoping the final Chainsaw Man Volume 24, scheduled for release in Japan on June 4, 2026, will have similar additions. However, it’s up to the author whether or not to include extra panels or an epilogue, so it’s not certain. Even if there is extra content, it will likely just add small details to the ending, and the main events will stay the same.

Will the Anime Change the Ending?

It’s common for fans to hope an anime will improve a manga’s ending if they didn’t like it. However, it’s unlikely to happen. Modern anime production largely focuses on closely following the original manga. Changing the story without the author’s permission is now seen as disrespectful.

This suggests the Chainsaw Man anime will likely follow the original storyline when it eventually adapts this part of the manga. Even Attack on Titan, which faced more criticism, largely stayed true to its core plot, adding details only when they fit the existing narrative.
