The “Vibrant Dye” quest in Crimson Desert teaches you how to change the color of your gear. You’ll unlock it by progressing through the Greymanes questline – specifically, after you’ve completed the quest where you deliver a stolen wagon to a fence for Yann. Talk to Naira afterward, and she’ll explain everything you need to know about dyeing in the game. If you’re interested in customizing your character’s appearance, this quest is a great place to start.
Crimson Desert Vibrant Dye Walkthrough
You’ll overhear Naira and Andrew arguing about the Greymanes’ dull clothes near your tent at Howling Hill. Talk to them, and Naira will ask you to ride to town with her. When you arrive, you’ll discover the cauldron needed for making dyes has been moved to a shop in Hernand. Just follow the marker on your map and go inside.
As soon as you enter, you’ll see a Cauldron directly ahead. Light it to access a special crafting menu where you can make potions, elixirs, and dyes.
Naira should have already given you the Bright Red Dye recipe and the ingredients. Once you brew the dye in the Cauldron, it will be added to your inventory. This unlocks all the shades of Bright Red Dye, and you can use them as often as you like – you won’t need to make any more!
Go back to the Dyehouse, where Naira first met you. Talk to the vendor and choose the “Dye” option. A menu will pop up – select the item you want to change the color of. Remember, in Crimson Desert, each item slot can only hold one dye color, so experiment and have fun! The dyeing process will finish immediately after you pay the dye master.
Okay, so after I finish up whatever I’m doing, I definitely need to head back and see Naira. She’s giving out a bottle of Grey Dye, which is awesome because I can use it instead of silver if I need to! It’s a really helpful swap, apparently.
Important Dye-Related Tips
Dyehouses in the world of Crimson Desert can only use colors found in their specific area. For example, the dyehouse in Hernand can’t make anything blue, and the one in Delyssia can’t do red. Surprisingly, the best place to get your gear dyed is actually at Greymanes Camp. As you improve your camp, you’ll receive a rumor investigation from Marius that leads you to Oliver, the clan’s dye master. He can dye your equipment any color, regardless of regional limitations.
You can get dyes in many colors from the dye shops throughout Pywel. You can also earn some colors as rewards or discover them while exploring the world. Here’s a guide to the colors available in different areas:
- Hernand: Red
- Demeniss: Purple
- Tariv: Violet
- Delesyia: Blue
- Pororin: Yellow
- Tashkalp: Orange
- Greymanes: Grey
