Okay, so in Crime Scene Cleaner, specifically Act 2, ‘Things Left Behind,’ you’ll find a cassette tape during a flashback to Elena’s 16th birthday party. It’s located right there on a table in Kovalsky’s apartment – and it’s important because this is the first time you actually get to explore the inside of the apartment. Don’t get confused though, because you do revisit Kovalsky’s apartment later, when Elena is leaving, but that’s a completely separate scene.

The CD is on the table near the kitchen counter, possibly still with the pizza boxes. This is the last cassette tape we have.

Once Kovalsky finishes Act 1 and goes to sleep, he’ll begin to remember things from the past. These memories both start Act 2 and quickly move the story forward in time.

The scene opens with Kovalsky arriving at the hospital. A discharge form on the bed shows that his daughter, Elena, is being released, meaning she has recovered from her illness and is going home.

You’ll find a Get Well Soon card on the bedside table and a toy astronaut on the blue desk. You need to examine both of these to find all three clues.

Kovalsky went back to his job as a school janitor. A student wrote in their notebook that he was one of the cool adults. He actually found cleaning the school to be a relaxing break from his much more difficult job cleaning up crime scenes.

After leaving the school, head to Kovalsky’s Apartment. The Cassette Tape is located there in the ‘Things Left Behind’ area.

A birthday card on the table behind the sofa shows it’s Elena’s sixteenth birthday, indicating that quite a bit of time has passed since the beginning of the story. A cigarette lies under the chip bag on the sofa as well.

Kovalsky went back to his regular routine, working as a cleaner in the school cafeteria. He noticed an Amber Alert posted on the bulletin board about a missing child.

Lastly, head back to Kovalsky’s Apartment. Elena is getting ready to leave for college, so finish the scene by answering the phone.

Even though you’ll still spend time cleaning, organizing, and gathering evidence in the ‘Things Left Behind’ section of Crime Scene Cleaner, there aren’t any hidden secrets to uncover. You also won’t be able to steal anything, as Kovalsky has moved past that part of his life.
