Black Myth: Wukong Will Have Some “Surprises” Later This Year, Says Director

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and excitement upon hearing that Black Myth: Wukong might have some surprises in store later this year. Having played through countless games, I’ve learned to read between the lines – especially when it comes to cryptic comments from developers!

According to the director, Feng Ji, the game Black Myth: Wukong is expected to bring some “unexpected delights” by the end of this year.

The news came from the Golden Joysticks Awards, where Black Myth: Wukong won Game of the Year. Ji commented during the acceptance speech, “there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.”

It’s been speculated that the recent announcement could imply a move to the Xbox platform, which isn’t impossible. However, Ji’s comment about a surprise came later in his statement where he said, “you [players] may have already finished our game,” implying that the surprise is intended for those who have already experienced the game.

Indeed, it’s plausible that an Xbox announcement might take place, however, Ji’s remarks seem to hint towards unveiling new content rather than a whole new console. The phrase “Later this year” suggests the announcement could occur during The Game Awards on December 13th, but there’s also a chance that Game Science may choose to announce it independently if they decide to do so.

2024 saw the release of Black Myth: Wukong, a game that swiftly became one of the year’s most successful titles, selling an astounding 20 million copies in its debut month alone. The game garnered mostly positive feedback on Metacritic, a popular review aggregator, for the PlayStation 5 platform.
