If Assassin’s Creed Invictus Works, Far Cry Could Get a Similar Game

If Assassin's Creed Invictus Works, Far Cry Could Get a Similar Game

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the gaming landscape has drastically evolved since the days of pixelated sprites and 8-bit melodies. The multiplayer aspect of games has been a game-changer, to say the least, and it’s fascinating to see how developers are constantly pushing boundaries to create unique experiences for us players.

Back in the 2010s, multiplayer experiences became a significant aspect of what made the Assassin’s Creed series stand out for me as a fan. It all started with the thrilling introduction of multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood in 2010, particularly the Wanted mode that offered an engaging cat-and-mouse gameplay experience with more depth and replayability than I initially expected. The series continued to build upon its PvP modes in Assassin’s Creed 3 and Black Flag, even introducing a cooperative mode for the first time. Cooperation became a significant feature of Assassin’s Creed Unity, both in terms of marketing and gameplay. However, the less-than-warm reception to that game seemed to make Ubisoft hesitant about multiplayer, and since then, it hasn’t been fully integrated into the franchise.

However, it appears that “Assassin’s Creed Invictus,” unveiled in September 2022, is poised to alter the status quo. Officially, there isn’t much known about this forthcoming title, rumored to be a multiplayer spin-off of the Assassin’s Creed series. Despite the scarcity of official details, numerous leaks about the game have surfaced, and one recent leak hints that it may lead the series into uncharted territory. Yet, this potential direction might not align with the typical Assassin’s Creed experience but seems tailor-made for Far Cry.

Far Cry Might Want to Follow in Assassin’s Creed Invictus’ Rumored Footsteps

Assassin’s Creed Invictus’ Rumored Arcade-y Direction Explained

In September, an individual going by the handle j0nathan posted on Twitter, claiming to reveal aspects about the gameplay structure of Assassin’s Creed Invictus. According to this leak, Assassin’s Creed Invictus is rumored to be a multiplayer game inspired by Fall Guys, featuring up to 16 players competing in various mini-games. The games reportedly consist of Team Deathmatch, Free-for-All, and a race where players must navigate through checkpoints.

Many find issue with the alleged details of j0nathan’s leak concerning Assassin’s Creed Invictus, suggesting it may have an arcade-style feel. This includes hits lacking impact and power-ups akin to those in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, such as a bubble shield. Although this potential direction could be enjoyable with proper development, the arcade-like or perhaps more lighthearted tone doesn’t seem fitting for a multiplayer Assassin’s Creed game, given its serious and intense nature.

Far Cry Would Suit An Arcade-y Multiplayer Spinoff

While it might be tricky to make Assassin’s Creed fit a more lighthearted, arcade-y tone, a Far Cry multiplayer spinoff in a similar vein could work quite well. The Far Cry franchise is home to plenty of serious, dramatic moments, but it’s also got more than its fair share of tongue-in-cheek action, humorous one-liners, and over-the-top story beats.

In every intense speech by the character Vaas, there’s a whole mission centered around inhaling the smoke from a burning marijuana farm. The Far Cry series has dabbled with otherworldly concepts on multiple occasions, one example being the Lost Between Worlds expansion in Far Cry 6, where players encountered an alien spacecraft and artificial intelligence.

The Far Cry series not only maintains a lighter atmosphere but also excels at incorporating various quick, engaging mini-games. Ranging from poker to knife-throwing competitions, bike races on quad bikes, and even the contentious cockfighting, Far Cry has offered numerous mini-games throughout its history. Some of these could fit seamlessly into a multiplayer spinoff inspired by Fall Guys.
