The Spring 2026 anime season is bringing a lot of exciting new shows, including titles like Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Witch Hat Atelier. One of the first to arrive is Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, a fantasy series set in a modern city where people have incredible powers. The story begins with a nation plunged into a ten-year-long winter after a devastating event. When the Agent of Spring returns, she and the other Agents must work to regain their equilibrium and overcome the past.
The anime Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring has already released its first two episodes, giving us a glimpse into the characters and their world. We’re now starting to learn more about not just the Agent of Spring, but also the backgrounds of her dedicated Guard and the enigmatic Agent of Winter. While the show has a gentle, colorful look, it tackles some surprisingly serious and intense themes. As episode two showed, being an Agent is a dangerous job, and things are likely to remain that way in future episodes.
The Long-Lost Agent of Spring Returns Home
Hinagiku Kayo Finds Her Footing When the World Needs Her Most
Not much is known about Hinagiku Kayo’s early life. She’s the Agent of Spring in a world where people, known as Agents, gained powers from the seasons long ago. Hinagiku is the most recent to receive the power of spring, but she was kidnapped as a child. Without her abilities, her homeland suffered through years without spring. Now, she’s returned home, but is still dealing with the emotional scars from her experiences over the last ten years.
I’m so excited about where this story is going! After Hinagiku successfully brought spring back with Sakura by her side, everyone’s starting to take notice – including Rosei Kantsubaki, the Agent of Winter, and surprisingly, someone Hinagiku used to know! Even though Rosei is bound by the rules all the Seasonal Agents have to follow, he really wants to experience the spring Hinagiku created for the whole country. It’s also fascinating to see Itecho, Rosei’s Guard, thinking about his past and his complicated history with Sakura, who used to be his student. Honestly, I’m really hoping episode three dives deeper into everyone’s backstories – we need more context to really understand what’s going on!

The previous two episodes showed Hinagiku returning to her homeland and meeting the leaders who oversee the Agents of the Four Seasons.
