Zack Hoyt, better known as Asmongold, is a popular Twitch streamer who first gained recognition for playing games like World of Warcraft. He helped found OTK, a media organization run by streamers, in 2020, but has since stepped back from his involvement, starting in late 2024. Lately, Asmongold has been streaming more reaction videos and chats, often sharing his outspoken views on political issues.
Asmongold Banned From Twitch Again After Political Remarks
Asmongold has been banned from Twitch again, this time for seven days on his alternate account, Zackrawrr. The ban stemmed from comments he made during a stream on April 6th, where he stated he didn’t care about the opinions of people from developing countries. After the suspension, Asmongold took to Twitter to dispute the fairness of the ban, claiming he hadn’t violated Twitch’s rules. He questioned whether someone would be punished for dismissing the opinions of people from a specific region, suggesting Twitch was applying a double standard to his case.
Asmongold’s main Twitch channel hasn’t been suspended, but he hasn’t streamed on it for more than three years.
Asmongold has faced bans before for controversial statements about the Middle East. In October 2024, Twitch suspended him for two weeks after he stated he felt no sympathy for Palestinians, characterizing their culture as inferior. He later acknowledged on Twitter that his comments were excessive and followed up with a detailed apology video. As a result, he temporarily stopped streaming and resigned from his leadership roles at both OTK and Starforge Systems, a computer company he helped create.
By 2025, Asmongold regularly shared his opinions on politics during his streams, and this continued into 2026. It was these comments that ultimately led to his recent suspension.
In September 2025, Asmongold paused his streaming to be with his father, who was unwell. He resumed streaming after his father passed away.
