As a seasoned Stalker and a connoisseur of all things firearms, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the Drowned AK rifle in Stalker 2. This beauty is not just a weapon, it’s an adventure waiting to happen!
In the game Stalker 2, a well-equipped firearm could take you far, especially if it has been enhanced to improve its functionality. Scattered throughout the Zone are numerous distinctive weapons, and for those seeking a strong assault rifle from the start, the Drowned is worth considering on your search list.
In the game Stalker 2, you might come across an exceptional AK rifle known as The Drowned. It’s not extremely difficult to locate, but due to its somewhat discreet nature, it could be easy to overlook. If you’re searching for a top-tier early weapon variant, don’t forget to snatch this rifle when the opportunity arises.
Stalker 2 Drowned Assault Rifle Location
The entity known as The Drowned is typically stationed in an easily identifiable location. You can locate it outside the Slag Heap, specifically in the Garbage district. This area becomes accessible once you complete the mission named Behind Seven Seals. To reach it, consider breaching the Ward’s barricade situated west of Zalissya; however, be aware that the journey might prove challenging without reliable gear such as fortified armor or Valik Lummox’s enhanced scoped AK.
To retrieve the submerged item, simply approach the piece of concrete located in the southern pond near the Slag Heap. You’ll find it close to the dirt road leading to the Loner settlement, and a Stalker called Boo who requires assistance will be present once you arrive.
In a peculiar twist of events, I find myself in possession of Boo’s prized firearm, the Drowned, as he claims he accidentally dropped it. Despite his apparent affection for this rifle, it seems that retrieving it isn’t high on his priority list, even when it lies just a few feet away. If you engage him in conversation before grabbing the gun, he’ll request you to fetch it for him. Conversely, if you pick up the gun without speaking to Boo first, he’ll ask you to return it. Handing over the Drowned to him doesn’t seem to bring any immediate advantages, and while the long-term consequences remain unclear, it seems prudent to keep hold of the firearm for now.
In Stalker 2, if you come across something that’s been submerged, it will likely be in a poor state when you retrieve it. However, this won’t be a problem if you can quickly generate income or if you have some extra cash on hand for necessary repairs.
Is The Drowned Any Good?
The Drowned is a modified AKM-74S assault rifle that comes with a grenade launcher. The latter uses VOG-25 grenades, which can be found very rarely throughout the zone. Some merchants may have some for sale, but don’t count on it.
An intriguing enhancement of the Drowned compared to typical AKM-74S rifles lies in its banded magazines. Instead of simply discarding a spent magazine and replacing it with a new one, Skif flips the magazines before inserting the one loaded with fresh ammo. Once that’s empty, he discards the bundle and inserts a new one. Consequently, each alternate reload with the Drowned is quicker than usual. Beyond these features, the Drowned functions similarly to most other AKM-74S rifles.
