Over the years, One Piece has introduced many incredibly strong characters with fascinating abilities. These powers, often gained through Devil Fruits and Haki, sometimes allow users to transform in ways that unlock their full potential. Among the many impressive transformations created by Eiichiro Oda, a few are truly exceptional.
Jewelry Bonney
- Devil Fruit: Toshi Toshi no Mi
- Transformation: Gear 5
Jewelry Bonney used to captain the Bonney Pirates and is currently traveling with the Straw Hat Pirates. As a member of the Worst Generation, she’s a remarkably skilled pirate. Her Devil Fruit, the Toshi Toshi no Mi, gives her the ability to make likely futures become reality.
Bonney’s Devil Fruit ability lets her change her form based on what she imagines as a possible future. She’s already shown she can transform into things like a pirate at will. But her most powerful transformation is becoming a form similar to Luffy’s Gear 5, allowing her incredible strength. Although she can’t maintain this form for very long, it’s powerful enough to let her battle strong opponents like Saint Saturn.
Rob Lucci
- Devil Fruit: Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard
- Transformation: Leoard-Human Hybrid, Awakened Form
Rob Lucci is a remarkably strong fighter working for CP0. He ate the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard, a Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a leopard. As seen in the Egghead Arc, Lucci has awakened his Devil Fruit powers, significantly enhancing his abilities and taking his leopard transformations to an even greater level.
Although Lucci briefly matched Luffy’s Gear 5 in his awakened state, Luffy ultimately proved too strong. Similarly, against Zoro, Lucci held the advantage for a while with his awakened form, but Zoro eventually overpowered him.

Big Mom
- Devil Fruit: Soru Soru no Mi
- Transformation: Lifespan Consumption
Big Mom was one of the most powerful pirates in the world, known as a Yonko. While she possessed a Devil Fruit that let her control souls, she also had a remarkable ability: by sacrificing years of her own life, she could grow to an enormous size and make her eyes burn with flames.
Big Mom has the ability to combine with her homies, significantly boosting her power. This transformation includes setting her hair ablaze and gaining complete control over lightning. The danger of this transformation was evident during her fight against Kid and Law in the Wano Country Arc’s Onigashima battle.
Kaido
- Devil Fruit: Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
- Transformation: Flaming Drum Dragon
Once considered the world’s most powerful being, Kaido has remarkably dangerous and unique transformations. He possesses the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, a Devil Fruit that lets him turn into a fearsome Azure Dragon whenever he chooses.
Kaido’s most powerful form is undoubtedly his Flaming Drum Dragon form, where he transforms into a massive dragon engulfed in fiery, magma-like flames. This form is incredibly destructive – strong enough to obliterate an entire country simply by flying over it, and even capable of inflicting significant damage on Luffy when he’s using his Gear 5.
Five Elders
- Devil Fruits: Yokai Powers
- Transformation: Various Yokai Forms
The Five Elders are incredibly powerful figures in the world of One Piece, often called Warrior Gods. They answer directly to Saint Imu Nerona and are seen by most as the ultimate authority. Their power comes from Yokai abilities granted through an ancient agreement called the Abyssal Covenant.
The Elders each possess unique and dangerous powers. These abilities, while rooted in Yokai lore, work in a similar way to the powerful Mythical Zoan transformations seen throughout the series. What sets them apart is an added layer of regeneration and immortality, making them significantly stronger and more resilient than typical Mythical Zoans.
Loki
- Devil Fruit: Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr
- Transformation: Nidhoggr
Loki, the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, is incredibly powerful thanks to the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, a Devil Fruit he ate 14 years ago. This fruit lets him transform into Nidhogg, a colossal dragon so large it can overshadow entire islands, and grants him the potential to destroy the world.
Nidhoggr is a legendary being from the One Piece world, powerful enough to inspire fear even in Imu. And Loki’s transformation is arguably one of the most impressive power-ups ever shown in the series.
Luffy
- Devil Fruit: Hito Hoto no Mi, Model: Nika
- Transformation: Gear 5
Monkey D. Luffy is known for his incredible transformations, and his most powerful one is definitely Gear 5. He first accessed this form during the Wano Country Arc. Gear 5 represents the full awakening of Luffy’s Devil Fruit power, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and it significantly boosts his abilities.
Luffy’s body becomes incredibly flexible, giving him much more freedom in battle and significantly boosting his strength and speed. With Gear 5, he’s only limited by his own imagination – he can essentially do anything he can envision. While this form drains his energy quickly, Luffy can always find a way to surpass his limits when necessary.
Nerona Imu
- Devil Fruit: Akuma no Mi
- Transformation: Devil
The most significant power-up shown in One Piece so far belongs to Saint Imu Nerona, the world’s ruler and a member of the original 20 Kings. Imu possesses a unique Devil Fruit ability that allows them to transform into the Devil itself. This transformation dramatically increases their fighting strength and also gives them the power to make agreements, known as Covenants, with others.
From what I’ve seen, Imu has this terrifying ability to grant enemies demonic powers, essentially turning them into slaves forever with something called Domi Reversi. He’s incredibly powerful – even stronger than someone like Nika, it seems, especially as we move into the Final Saga. Like with other Devil Fruit users, Imu can also transform his body, and we got a glimpse of this during the Reverie when Sabo attacked him with fire. We also saw him change into a monstrous hybrid form when he descended into Elbaph through the Abyss, which was truly frightening.
