A new PlayStation State of Play event might happen earlier than anticipated, according to a reliable source who says it’s likely to occur before June. These showcases are major events for gamers, typically featuring around 45 minutes to an hour of exciting announcements, updates, and reveals about upcoming games. With highly anticipated titles like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine on the horizon, a new State of Play could offer fans a deeper look at some of PlayStation’s biggest games planned for 2026.
It hasn’t been long since the last PlayStation State of Play in February, and this one was a huge success. The presentation immediately excited fans with the announcement of Kena: Scars of Kosmora, a follow-up to the popular 2021 game, Bridge of Spirits. PlayStation also confirmed a remake of the original God of War Trilogy and surprisingly released a new God of War action platformer right away. Plus, Saber Interactive showed off a new John Wick game (currently without a title), and Housemarque gave an update on Saros, their next project inspired by Returnal.
PlayStation State of Play Could Arrive “Well Before” June
A new PlayStation State of Play presentation might be happening soon, according to reliable source NateTheHate. When asked if it would be in June like last year, Nate hinted it would likely be “well before that.” While they haven’t confirmed the exact date with their contacts, it seems a new showcase could arrive in just a few weeks. It’s worth noting that in 2025, a State of Play focused only on the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Ghost of Yotei, was held in April. Before that, in 2024, a February showcase highlighted Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, followed by a larger presentation in late May.
With the release of Saros on PlayStation 5 scheduled for April 30th, there’s a chance PlayStation might host one last State of Play showcase focusing on their major exclusive games. However, since it’s already mid-April, that seems pretty unlikely. A dedicated State of Play for Marvel’s Wolverine is a more realistic possibility. Insomniac’s upcoming superhero game is easily the most hyped PS5 exclusive of 2026, and it wasn’t featured in February’s showcase. This was likely intentional, as the studio has promised to share more details this spring.
It’s just a guess, but with Spring now underway, it makes sense that PlayStation’s next State of Play might focus on Marvel’s Wolverine, one of the most awaited games of 2026, alongside Grand Theft Auto 6. Alternatively, the next State of Play could cover multiple games, potentially happening in May, as has been the pattern in previous years.
