Where to Get Abyssal Rays in Crimson Desert

Abyssal Rays is a powerful Abyss Gear that significantly boosts damage in Crimson Desert. Players can obtain it fairly early in the game by finding a black market trader just outside Demeniss City. You’ll find his shop along the southeastern wall, where he sells the Abyssal Rays rune for around 40 Silver. It’s a great investment, as Abyssal Rays becomes incredibly effective when combined with other Abyss Gears that enhance your Light Attack chain in Crimson Desert.

Crimson Desert Abyssal Rays Location

You can purchase Abyssal Rays from a vendor located southeast of Demeniss City. Look for a small shop in a back alley, near the rocks where the city wall curves. If you’re coming from the east, the vendor is just to the left of the city gate. Check the map above to find a nearby Abyss Nexus, which will help you pinpoint the location.

Okay, so this vendor is selling Abyssal Rays for 40 Silver, which can be pricey if you’re early in the game. If you’re short on cash, here’s a tip: head southwest of the city to Demeniss Wildlife Park. There are tons of nobles hanging around there, and they sometimes carry whole Gold Bars! I usually pickpocket them (don’t judge!), then head to any bank in Pywel and trade those Gold Bars for 500 Silver each. It’s a good way to make some extra coin!

Just a heads-up: if you haven’t completed Chapter 8, the town of Demeniss will be guarded by enemies who will attack you immediately. If you’re just there to collect rewards or buy items, you can safely ignore the guards and stick to the side streets.

Abyssal Rays Effect

Abyssal Rays launches several laser beams at your enemies after certain quick attacks. Here’s when the beams will fire:

  1. The final hit of your Light Attack chain.
  2. Aerial Light Attack.
  3. Dodge roll into Light Attack.
  4. Perfect dodge into Light Attack.

Abyss Gears work really well with dual-wielded weapons in Crimson Desert, especially those that activate with Light Attacks. Using two weapons lets you trigger these effects more frequently, and because Light Attacks don’t use Stamina, you’ll be able to fight for longer without getting tired compared to relying on Gears that need Heavy Attacks.

Abyssal Rays have a limited range, meaning you need to be quite close to your target. Unlike abilities like Ator’s Orb or Crow’s Pursuit, they won’t reach enemies at a distance or those who are launched away. Since you’ll typically be fighting up close with Abyssal Rays anyway, this limitation shouldn’t be a major problem, but it’s good to be aware of.

Abyssal Rays are incredibly strong, and when paired with gear from Demeniss’s Reaper bosses, they create a powerful build capable of defeating enemies quickly and easily.
