How To Beat Vinca In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve seen my fair share of challenging boss fights. But when it comes to Metaphor: ReFantazio, Serial Killer Vinca in Basilio’s side quest “A Brother’s Mercy” takes the cake!

In many of the connections within the game Metaphor: ReFantazio, a side mission becomes accessible before reaching the highest rank, often culminating in a boss battle. The bond belonging to Basilio is the final one that can be accessed, which means the boss associated with his side quest will prove to be more challenging than those linked to other bonds.

In my gaming adventure, once I’ve advanced to Rank 7 of Basilio’s Bond, a pivotal moment arrives where I must complete this side quest – “A Brother’s Mercy”. Completing this mission is essential to trigger the cutscene that seals Basilio’s final bond rank. This mission tasks me with locating and eliminating Vinca permanently. Here’s a breakdown of how I tackled it:

How To Begin A Brother’s Mercy In Metaphor: ReFantazio

To embark on this side mission, ensure you’ve reached Eloquence rank 5 and wait for a day when Basilio is typically present. In your follower roster, look for Basilio’s handshake icon, which may appear gray – don’t worry, that just means the quest is waiting to be started. Before engaging with Basilio, make sure your party is well-prepared, as selecting the right dialogue choices will lead you directly into a boss battle against Vinca.

  • Serial Killer Vinca – Level 66
  • Vinca has no weaknesses and resists all forms of physical damage.

Basilio is essential to the party, but his utility remains significant if you possess the War Cry skill, which comes with his standard Archetype. The Prince Archetype should be assigned to the protagonist, along with Junah and Eupha for their impressive Magic stats. Moreover, make use of Skill Inheritance to bestow Ren Patra upon any party member, as Vinca has a knack for causing Daze across your entire group.

In simpler terms, Vinca primarily uses a limited set of moves, focusing on inflicting physical damage on individuals or the entire group. He can also use Earsplitting Shriek to potentially cause confusion among all party members, which is his most significant threat. To maximally debuff him, utilize Basilio’s War Cry three times to lower both his attack and defense. Additionally, bringing Tetrakarn is recommended since Vinca’s attacks are physical and he will eventually strike the barrier, ending his turn.

Initiate the fight by having the Protagonist unleash Hero’s Cry first, followed by at least two War Cries from Basilio. Then, keep attacking with repeated Royal Slashes from the Protagonist for significant damage. If possible, enhance him with any buffing attacks to speed up the battle. Don’t be concerned about his damage reduction after it’s debuffed three times. Since Vinca can’t remove debuffs, they will persist as long as you occasionally use War Cry again to reset the timer.

Ask Junah and Eupha to unleash their most powerful magic abilities for maximum impact. They should perform the “Dance of the Masked Dancer” first, followed by summoning the “Dragon God”. This combination not only inflicts heavy damage but also provides an extra “Press Turn” icon when necessary.
