According to leaker Nate the Hate, a new Star Fox game will be revealed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 before the end of April, likely through the Nintendo Today app or on Twitter. It’s been a decade since the last original Star Fox game launched on Wii U, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment. Although Fox McCloud and his team were featured in Starlink: Battle for Atlas on Switch, a standalone Star Fox game hasn’t been released on the system.
As a huge Star Fox fan, it’s been tough seeing the series quiet for so long! But things are finally looking up. I was so excited to see Fox McCloud pop up in The Super Mario Movie, and Glen Powell did a fantastic job voicing him. It wasn’t just a quick cameo either β Fox actually had a pretty important role! Seeing Star Fox get that much attention after all these years feels like Nintendo is gearing up to make a big comeback for the franchise, and I can’t wait!
Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2
Last month, a rumor surfaced, thanks to leaker Nate the Hate, suggesting a new Star Fox game is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo hasn’t confirmed this yet, Nate the Hate believes an announcement is coming soon β specifically, before the end of April. However, don’t expect a full Nintendo Direct presentation; the news will likely be shared via Twitter or the Nintendo Today app.
I’m so hyped! It sounds like the new Star Fox game is really coming this summer, which means we have to get an official announcement any day now. Apparently, Nintendo is pretty upset about those recent leaks β not just Star Fox, but also the Ocarina of Time remake. They really like to keep things under wraps until they’re ready to show them off, and it makes sense β leaks totally mess with their plans for big reveals and controlling how everyone reacts to trailers and screenshots. Itβs a bummer when that happens, honestly!
It’s been a long time since a new Star Fox game, and fans are hoping the next installment will be worth the wait. Donkey Kong faced a similar situation on the Switch, mostly receiving updated versions of older games. However, Nintendo recently released Donkey Kong Bananza, which quickly became a standout title for the Switch 2. Now, fans are eager to see if Star Fox will receive a similarly impressive game on the new system and are excited to find out what Nintendo has planned.

Nintendo isn’t sharing much about its plans for 2026 just yet. This month, players can enjoy Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the original Switch, and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is coming to the new Switch 2 in May. While no other Nintendo games have confirmed release dates, Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Rhythm Heaven Groove are all expected to launch before the year is out. Fans are hoping to see Star Fox and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time announced soon, but they’ll have to wait and see if those games are actually confirmed.
