As a seasoned veteran of the Soulsborne series, I must say that my experiences with these less-than-stellar boss battles have been etched into my gaming memory for all the wrong reasons. Amongst the ranks of underwhelming adversaries, there are a few that stand out as particularly disappointing, each for its own unique reasons.
It’s common knowledge that many players find the Soulsborne series appealing due to its high level of challenge. FromSoftware’s games are often shrouded in difficulty because they feature tough bosses, intricate level layouts, and complex mechanics that may not be immediately clear.
On some instances, rather than following the norm, the developer occasionally presents us with tasks that deviate from their standard level, either due to a sense of superiority or a desire for caution.
In a change from their previous work, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring offer significantly higher levels of challenge compared to other games they’ve created. However, a true aficionado’s experience is etched deeply, so I am well-equipped to share with you the ten Soulsborne bosses that are considered the least challenging in their entire collection.
10 Curse-rotted Greatwood

In my opinion, Dark Souls 3 stands out among FromSoftware’s games as the one with the most challenging average boss difficulty overall, even though there’s a boss like the Curse-rotted Greatwood in it.
The grandeur of its structure and layout is unmistakable, yet the combat within it ranks among the least engaging and difficult throughout the game. Beyond the scattered egg sacs, fighting them doesn’t offer much enjoyment or a significant challenge.
While it’s not mandatory, overcoming this challenge is crucial for obtaining the Transposing Kiln and converting boss spirits into unique weapons. Hence, it might be more beneficial to have a straightforward encounter with minimal serious hazards.
9 Asylum Demon
The Tutorial Blueprint

Before starting, I just wanted to mention that I’m a big fan of the Asylum Demon; I believe it makes for a fantastic tutorial boss. That being said, I acknowledge that it’s a relatively straightforward battle.
Once you’ve settled down from your initial meeting, which is where most of its difficulty comes in, figuring out its habits and vulnerabilities becomes quite straightforward.
This character doesn’t have many attacks, moves slowly, and a lot of his health can be depleted with a diving attack. While he may not be particularly difficult, the psychological stress he creates could pose a threat for those new to the Dark Souls series.
8 Ancient Wyvern
One-hit Boss

In Dark Souls 3, the Ancient Wyvern is an uncommon situation where the boss isn’t the creature itself, but rather the environment it inhabits. This dragon has a unique feature: it can be defeated in a single strike and possesses only a few actions. However, the challenge lies not in defeating this dragon, but rather figuring out how to manage its enormous health pool.
When you understand that the playing field is bigger than normal, then the battle is essentially won because all you need to do is stick to the sequential layout of the stage, ascending to the peak from where you’ll deliver the final blow.
Despite my praise for other aspects, I must acknowledge that the numerous enemies guarding this location can be quite irritating. They inflict significant damage and have a knack for attacking from afar. However, they are the only factor making this battle challenging enough to prevent it from becoming incredibly easy.
7 Phalanx
A Firebombs Dumpster

As the initial formidable leader in Demon’s Souls, it’s reasonable to assume that Phalanx is as straightforward as it is, given its role in instructing players on how to endure the realm of Boletaria.
As a dedicated fan, I find myself often standing before the formidable boss’s arena, where foes drop Firebombs and Pine Resins. Knowingly, these items weaken Phalanx, making it essential for me to tactfully employ the resources at hand, ensuring I make the most of this game-given advantage.
The leader prefers not to fight himself, instead relying on his subordinates to shield him and inflict damage. Interestingly, these minions are quite docile, making it relatively simple to overcome them, even without the use of fire.
Phalanx may not stand out as a memorable character, but he effectively leads Demon’s Souls players towards the correct path, preparing them for the tough challenges that lie ahead.
6 Dragonrider
Seven Steps To Heaven

In the realm of Dark Souls 2, I find myself more as a Dragonrider than a mere player. It’s not that the Dragonrider lacks charm or appeal, but rather, they embody the unrealized promise and the crushing weight of gravity within this game world.
Instead of elevating its playing field to prevent a fall, the usual strategy is to go through the misty doorway, let the boss walk seven paces, then dash behind him to observe as he disappears.
Even so, if you choose to engage him honorably, you needn’t fret excessively, for a strategy that involves staying close behind him and launching relentless attacks seems effective not only with him but also with numerous other bosses in the subsequent installments.
I strongly believe that Dark Souls 2 is an overlooked masterpiece, yet I also acknowledge that there are aspects which may not be defensible. Without a shadow of a doubt, the Dragonrider is one of the less challenging bosses in the series.
5 The Last Giant

Exploring a cave and encountering a colossal figure with a gaping wound in its visage remains one of the most indelible experiences in Dark Souls 2, characterized by its captivating instances that highlight the game’s distinctiveness.
Regrettably, the grandiose giant adorned with a stunning aesthetic has little impact in battle, making it appear more like a colossus relegated to mere footwork.
Moving back and forth between feet, depleting a life meter to zero, isn’t enjoyable, challenging, or rewarding. Since this is the initial boss in the game, there’s some leeway for forgiveness, but it doesn’t educate or impart any useful information.
4 The Witch Of Hemwick
A Lukewarm Gimmick

Due to the fact that I’ve got a Bloodborne tattoo and completed the game numerous times, I believe I have sufficient expertise to claim that The Witch of Hemwick stands out as the only truly challenging boss within it.
You dash after the witch throughout the entire room, dodging harmless summonings that move slowly, and then you must repeat this action when a second one appears.
If you manage to bypass the minions and avoid the witches trying to grab you – since their moves are predictable – then the toughest aspect of this encounter would be potentially meeting your end.
Speaking about its design and performance, it reaches a low ebb in Bloodborne. Notably, if you step into the boss arena with no Insight points, you can keep the Mad Ones at bay, which means the entire encounter can turn out to be quite an insignificant tale.
3 Covetous Demon
Easy No-hit

Despite my efforts to grow fond of it, the “Covetous Demon” is an instance where I find myself aligning with the critics of Dark Souls 2.
I can argue for the unconsolidated level design, the enemy-filled zones, and even the Adaptability attribute, but the Covetous Demon is a punching bag that offers no resistance whatsoever, and not even I can defend it.
Despite its limited maneuverability, glitchy hitbox, and modest health bar relative to other mid-game bosses, it possesses all the necessary elements to be a standout on the list.
From a gamer’s perspective, I can’t help but find the placement of a Lava Castle atop a Windmill intriguing. Yet, acknowledging the straightforwardness of the Covetous Demon suggests a certain lack of complexity or excitement in its design.
2 Pinwheel
A Superb Backstory For A Poor Fight

I love Pinwheel. I consider him to be one of the most intriguing and in-depth bosses FromSoftware has ever made, as his backstory and design are phenomenal.
Regrettably, it’s a battle that doesn’t last even a minute. If, by some extraordinary misjudgment, you choose to venture into The Catacombs at the start of the game (which is not something anyone with common sense would do), his power, vitality, and attacks are all negligible.
I wish things were different, because it pains me that Pinwheel’s magnificent concept is so mechanically trivial, but the reality is you could beat him with your eyes closed.
1 Prowling Magus And Congregation
The Most Undeserved Boss Health Bar

Marking the only time I think FromSoftware has glaringly screwed up with Dark Souls 2, Prowling Magus and Congregation has the most undeserved boss health bar of all Soulsborne games.
It’s not just simple that this boss stands out as the least challenging across the whole series, but it really shouldn’t be, considering it lacks any significant plot connection, unique adversaries, and fails to provide a boss’ soul as reward loot.
Instead, it seems they’ve merely assembled a motley crew of ordinary adversaries in a confined space with no clear purpose. If Pinwheel doesn’t endure for a single moment, even Prowling Magus and Congregation struggle to advance more than halfway.
In simpler terms, I’ll simply point out that obtaining the Titanite Slab allows for upgrading a weapon to its maximum potential. Since this is the initial slab you receive during each gameplay session, the boss does have some use, even if it doesn’t quite live up to my expectations.
