These are the 5 Best Pokemon Not Available in Champions Yet

The launch of Pokemon Champions marks a new phase for competitive Pokemon battles. However, not all fans are thrilled with the game because it was released without a lot of Pokemon and items that players expected. The Pokemon Company has promised to add more content later, but many top competitive Pokemon aren’t currently available in the game.

While the return of Mega Evolution is exciting for Pokemon Champions players, the new Mega Evolutions don’t quite replace the established, powerful Pokemon that have been successful throughout Generation 9. These Pokemon didn’t even exist when Mega Evolution was last available, so it’s hard to predict how they’ll perform. That’s why these top-tier Generation 9 Pokemon should be added to the Pokemon Champions lineup as soon as possible.

Crowned Shield Zamazenta: A Defensive Tank that Doesn’t Care About Intimidate

HP 92
Attack 120
Defense 140
Special Attack 80
Special Defense 140
Speed 128
Total 700

Zamazenta in its Crowned Shield Form, featured on the Pokemon Shield box art, is a top defensive Pokemon in the latest generation. This is mainly due to its high base Defense stat of 140 and its Dauntless Shield Ability, which further boosts its defense upon entering battle. Plus, because it uses a special item called the Rusted Shield to achieve this form, opponents can’t remove its defensive boost with the Knock Off move.

Okay, so Zamazenta is already super bulky, but what really makes it a beast in VGC is its move, Body Press. Instead of using Attack to calculate damage, it uses Defense! This is huge because I can hit hard with Fighting-type moves without worrying about someone using Intimidate to lower my Attack stat. It’s a total game-changer for dealing consistent damage.

As a big fan of Pokemon Champions, I’m a little disappointed that it doesn’t have any Legendary Pokemon yet. The developers haven’t said anything about when we might see them added, which is a bummer, but I’m still hopeful!

Rapid-Strike Urshifu: A Crit Machine that Can Bypass Protect

HP 100
Attack 130
Defense 100
Special Attack 63
Special Defense 60
Speed 97
Total 550

Urshifu has two different styles—Single Strike and Rapid Strike—but its core strengths are the same in both. It also has an ability called Unseen Fist, which lets it ignore defenses like Protect and Detect, ensuring its attacks always land. Combined with its naturally high Attack and Defense, this makes Urshifu a formidable opponent in competitive Pokemon battles.

As a huge fan of Urshifu, I definitely think the Rapid Strike style is the way to go! The main reason? It gets this incredible move called Surging Strikes. It’s a Water-type attack that hits three times, and each hit always lands as a critical hit – seriously powerful! Plus, because only Rapid Strike Urshifu can learn Surging Strikes, it means you won’t see this awesome move in battles if Urshifu isn’t around, especially in the Champions battles!

Rillaboom: Terrain Setter and Turn-Priority Monster

HP 100
Attack 125
Defense 90
Special Attack 60
Special Defense 70
Speed 85
Total 530

Pokemon Champions includes most of the starter Pokemon from across the series. However, it’s missing Rillaboom, which many consider one of the best competitive choices after Incineroar. Rillaboom is known for its Hidden Ability, Grassy Surge, which creates Grassy Terrain. This terrain heals Pokemon each turn and also boosts the power of Grass-type moves by 50%.

Rillaboom is a strong Pokémon thanks to the move Grassy Glide, which lets it attack before most opponents if Grassy Terrain is active. Even though Rillaboom isn’t naturally very fast, Grassy Glide gives it a significant speed boost. Being able to create Grassy Terrain and then immediately benefit from it makes Rillaboom a valuable asset in Pokemon Champions.

Miraidon: Boosted Terrain Damage and High Speeds

HP 100
Attack 85
Defense 100
Special Attack 135
Special Defense 115
Speed 135
Total 670

Similar to Rillaboom, Miraidon excels in competitive Pokemon battles thanks to its incredible Hadron Engine ability. This ability instantly creates Electric Terrain when Miraidon enters a fight. Electric Terrain strengthens Electric-type attacks by 50%, and Hadron Engine adds even more power by boosting Miraidon’s Special Attack by 33%. This combination makes Miraidon a remarkably fast and powerful attacker.

Miraidon is incredibly powerful, and its special move, Electro Drift, becomes even stronger when used against Water or Flying-type Pokémon, increasing its damage by 33%. This is on top of the move already benefiting from being an Electric-type attack boosted by Electric Terrain. Plus, Miraidon can use Volt Switch to quickly switch out of a battle if it’s facing a difficult opponent.

Shadow Rider Calyrex: Insane Special Attack and Speed Stats

HP 100
Attack 85
Defense 80
Special Attack 165
Special Defense 100
Speed 150
Total 680

In competitive Pokémon battles, Shadow Rider Calyrex is the only Pokémon that rivals Incineroar in how often it’s used. This Pokémon is a powerful combination of Spectrier and Calyrex, merging their best qualities into one incredibly strong form. Shadow Rider Calyrex boasts exceptionally high Special Attack and Speed, making it hard to prevent it from quickly defeating an entire team. It can even become even more dangerous by using the move Nasty Plot to further increase its Special Attack.

Shadow Rider Calyrex is incredibly powerful thanks to its high Speed and Special Attack. Its As One Ability also lets it use Spectrier’s Grim Neigh, which boosts its Special Attack every time it defeats a Pokémon. This can quickly turn one knockout into a winning streak, sweeping through an entire team. To make this happen, though, both Calyrex and Spectrier would need to be included in the Pokemon Champions game.
