Overwatch Reveals New Hero Sierra Gameplay and Abilities

Blizzard has shown off gameplay for Sierra, the newest hero joining the world of Overwatch in the upcoming Reign of Talon Season 2. Sierra has a unique kit of abilities, including a Tracking Shot, a Tremor Charge, and an Anchor Drone that can be used for both quick movement and ranged attacks. As the 51st hero added to Overwatch, Sierra is the sixth new character released as part of the Reign of Talon content planned for 2026.

Blizzard recently introduced Sierra, a new character coming to Overwatch. As the captain of Helix Security, she’s teamed up with Overwatch to fight against Talon. Talon attacked Sierra’s base, Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, attempting to steal a secret briefcase. Though Sierra, who uses drones in combat, put up a strong fight against Emre, Talon successfully stole what they were after.

Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 2 Hero Sierra Abilities

I’m so excited, Blizzard just showed us how the new hero, Sierra, will actually play! The gameplay trailer highlighted all her abilities – she uses a cool homing rifle called the Helix Rifle, throws these things called Tremor Charges, and has this adorable, bright pink drone named Dorothy. Basically, she’s going to be a lot like other fast-paced heroes in Overwatch like Emre, Sojourn, and Soldier: 76 – you’ll be running around and gunning people down!

  • Role: Damage
    • Subrole: Recon – Damaging enemies below half health reveals them to Sierra and her team.
  • Weapon
    • Helix Rifle: An automatic pulse rifle that shoots in a spiral pattern, gaining accuracy with sustained fire.
    • Tracking Shot: Marks an enemy, causing Helix Rifle shots to home in on marked enemies.
  • Abilities
    • Anchor Drone: Sends Dorothy flying forward. Activate again to rush to the Anchor Drone’s location.
    • Tremor Grenade: Throws an explosive that creates a cone-shaped shockwave on impact.
  • Ultimate
    • Trailblazer: Sends Dorothy flies forward in a line, bombarding the area below for massive damage.
  • Perks
    • Minor
      • Full Flight: Anchor Drone flight and grapple range increase by 25%.
      • Tight Grip: Helix Rifle’s projectile spread tightens twice as fast, and widens again 30% slower.
    • Major
      • Medi-Drone: Anchor Drone now carries a small Health Pack to heal Sierra.
      • Locked In: Tracking Shot increases Helix Rifle attack speed by 20% for 2 seconds.

Sierra appears to be a very mobile and formidable fighter. Her rifle works like Sojourn’s, but automatically locks onto enemies instead of requiring a charge-up. She also has a drone similar to Vendetta’s, which she can use to quickly engage or escape. Add in her area-of-effect abilities, and Sierra looks like a strong counter to flying heroes and tightly-packed teams in Overwatch.

We know Sierra is currently working to stop Talon after they attacked her base, but her past remains a secret. Before Season 2 launches, a motion comic will be released on April 13th that should reveal her origins, how she became part of Helix Security in Overwatch, and how she first met her drone companion, Dorothy.

The next major update for Overwatch, called Reign of Talon Season 2, is coming on April 14th and will include a lot of new content. Players can look forward to a refreshed Battle Pass, changes to the Antarctic Peninsula map, a version for the new Nintendo Switch 2, and an updated look for the hero Anran. A trailer showing off the season will be released on April 13th, along with a motion comic featuring the character Sierra.
